“I’ve marked your short stories and I must say I was very impressed.” Anne said holding some papers in her hand. “Especially you're a Hailey. I want to read the last part of your story if you wouldn't mind.” She said asking me. 

“No not at all.” I felt myself blush knowing that it was actually Calum who was going to get the attention for his writing and for some reason I didn't find myself jealous over it.

“I want you all to listen carefully to the words that she uses.” Anne said.

“If I can just say something before you read it.” I said raising my hand. “My friend helped me write it and I would feel too guilty to say that this was all of my work.” Anne smiled.

“A good writer and she gives credit when needed.” Anne’s eyes went to my paper that was in her hands and started reading; after she was done she drew in a breath. “Can you tell me some things that you found in that that you appreciated…” A boy that I have yet to talk to raised his hand. 

“I liked how she said that he studied her handwriting before he read the note. It makes you see the infatuation he has with this girl. She also gives good word pictures.”

“Yes. You get a good word picture from the writing. For you’re next assignment I want you to describe to me something that makes you feel alive and when I read it I want to feel the same thing you feel. I want to see it in my minds eye. I want it to be minimum five hundred words.” I copied down the words that Anne was saying into my notebook. “You can write about a smell that brings you back to a happy memory or about a sound that brings you bliss;” She stopped talking because a phone was ringing; everyone was looking at me and it took a second for it to click that it was phone ringing.

“Oh, I’m so sorry.” I reached into my bag and pulled out my phone seeing that it was Calum calling me; a smile spread across my lips as I silenced my phone. 

“Don’t worry, class is done anyways.” Anne said walking back to her desk. “Come pick up your papers before you leave.” I grabbed all my things and stuffed it in my bag and practically ran up to Anne to grab my paper. “I was very impressed with your work this week.” 

“Thank you. I found some inspiration.” 

“Well I hope it stays around for a while.”

“Me too.” I said softly before giving her a small and walking out of the class. I waited until I got to my car before calling Calum back; he picked up on the second ring. 

“Hey.” It was such a simple word yet it brought so many butterflies to my stomach.

“Hi.” I said a bit too happily. 

“Did I interrupt something?” He asked.
