Chapter 70

'That can't be right,' I thought, watching with narrowed eyes as he walked up the ramp. 'If he's conscious, then shouldn't he be trying to at least escape? He has that disgusting warping quirk, so why doesn't he use it? '

Unless... he didn't care - not about being caught, being beat. The thought unsettled my stomach.

But he couldn't hurt anyone, right? All Might had practically smashed the life out of him; he couldn't hurt anyone. I had to be just be still slightly paranoid after everything that went down. That was all it was. He couldn't hurt anyone.... Right?

"Y/N."

I jumped at the sudden voice, blinking myself out of my stupor to turn and face Shoto.

"You okay?" His head was tilted and gaze intense, blue and grey irises boring into mine. The grip he had on my hand was also kind of constricting, but not to the point of loss of feeling.

"Y-Yeah," I stammered, shaking my head. "Just... had a bad feeling about something."

"What about?"

Hesitating for a moment, I did a double take on the screen, watching All for One - blurred in the background behind All Might - with wary eyes. 'He can't hurt me. Just like Stain, he isn't here anymore. He can't hurt anyone.'

"Nothing." I flashed Shoto a quick smile, turning to leave with Shoto's hand in mine. "Come on, let's go find our friends-"

'Leaving so soon, L/N? '

I froze in place, eyes widening at the sound of his voice hissing in my head.

'I must say I'm very disappointed in you.'

"You..." I muttered, breathy shaky. "How are you in my head?"

"Y/N?" Shoto asked, but he sounded too far away. "You okay?"

'You refused to use your true potential even when it was your only escape. What a shame...'

"Get out of my head," I hissed.

All for One chuckled. 'It'll take a lot more than a few punches from All Might to kill me, L/N. My powers are beyond comprehension, even for that overly-optimistic man.'

"I said get out of my head!"

Everything else drowned out around me, the sensation of fingers gripping onto me barely registering with my numbed senses.

'You know I can't do that. Not when you have something you owe me.'

"You can't hurt me. Not with so many people around me and you right now."

'Yes, yes, I know that. But that doesn't mean I can't give you one final parting gift until next time.'

"Ngh!" I collapsed to the ground as his iron grip clenched around my heart, icy coils constricting my beating muscle. I gasped for breath but found barely any to breathe in as my eyes became level with the ground.

'Consider this a warning,' All for One whispered. 'I will be back to reclaim what is mine. But until then, also remember this...'

"Y/N! Can you hear me?!" A blurred image of my friends entered my eyesight, but Momo's hair started blending with the blackness of my impending unconsciousness, and Shoto's colours began to fade to grey. "Someone, help her! Someone..."

'You belong to me. Don't forget it.'

His coils loosened, but I continued to fade into darkness, the faces of my friends becoming blurs of faded colours as the darkness consumed me.
