Beep... Beep... Beep...
My eyes twitched at the sound, flicking underneath my sealed eyelids as my consciousness started coming back. Light broke through the darkness, making me groan. My whole body was stiff; I couldn't find it in me to twitch even my finger. What the hell happened to me? It was like a truck had hit me head on, everything hurt so much. 'But where am I? '
Resigning myself to the fact that the obnoxious light wouldn't be going away any time soon, I opened my eyes. Blinking a few times, the room came into focus, revealing a room with neutral tones of white and grey.
A room that I was all too familiar with.
"Y/N?"
My gaze flickered to my left, slightly widening at the sight of my mother sitting there.
"Mum...?"
"Oh sweetheart!" She flung herself onto me, arms encircling underneath to pull me in for a hug. "You're okay! You're okay..."
"Mum..." I heaved. "I can't... breathe..."
"Oh, right. Sorry..." She pulled away from me, but let her hands drop to grip one of mine. Her eyes crinkled as tears fell from her kind eyes, and a small smile crinkled her features. "I'm just so glad you're finally awake."
"We both are," a new voice intruded, drawing my attention to my right.
"Dad?" I breathed out, staring wide eyed at my father who, too, looked on the verge of tears, something he'd never looked like before.
"Oh darling..." he muttered, gripping my other hand in his larger one. "How do you feel? Here, you must be thirsty. Sit up."
Taking both my parents' hands, I held in a cry as I sat upright, my bones and muscles protesting every second of it. Mum propped a pillow behind my back, and I relaxed my tensed muscles at the soft sensation bracing me. Dad handed me a cup fo water, but when I went to reach for it, I hissed, letting my arm flop back onto the bed.
"You okay, honey?" Dad asked.
Taking a deep breath, I nodded. "Yeah, just still... a bit sore. Can you do it for me, Dad?"
"Of course, sweetheart. Here."
He pressed the plastic cup to my lips, and when the cool liquid touched my lips, I couldn't help from gulping it down hungrily. I hadn't realised how parched I was until now. It was silent for a moment, my parents watching me as I finished drinking. I looked around the room, finding it a lot smaller than the hospital rooms I'd been in before.
"Where exactly am I?" I asked, eyes flickering to and fro to try and find any clues for myself.
"You're in Musutafu Hospital," Mum answered. "The police wanted to talk to you, but your friends had found you unconscious, so you were brought here instead."
At the mention of my friends, I sat up straighter. That's right, I had passed out right after...
Rising panic settled inside me, clawing its way up my throat as I started rambling, images of last night flashing before my eyes.
"My friends! Where are they? Are they okay? What happened after I blacked out?"
"Whoa, Y/N. Calm down, hun," Dad said, his free hand gripping onto my shoulder. "You mustn't push yourself. Relax."
"But where are my friends? What happened?!"
"It's okay, Y/N," Mum cooed, rubbing soothing motions into my hand. "They're okay. All your friends are fine. Todoroki and Yaoyorozu had to leave though, as they took the boy who'd been taken with you to the police station for questioning. Don't worry, he's fine, too..."
