"Midoriya," Mineta said, popping up beside the green-haired boy, "there's no time. Let's go."
"Uh, right. Let's go this way." Midoriya pointed in front of us, the mountainous field of the arena only so many metres away from us. Without question, we followed, jogging together towards the rocky terrain. It looked like it had the most cover for what was about to happen, but otherwise, choosing this area seemed strange.
'Why, Midoriya? ' I wondered, looking around at my surroundings. 'Why...'
"I just don't think it's a good idea for them to go off on their own, though," Midoriya said, bringing me back out of my stupor.
"How come?" Mineta asked, running alongside him.
"Think about it - everybody already knows what powers we have."
Ochaco gasped, saying, "They did research?"
"No," I replied as the gravity of the situation finally hit me. "Not that. They know because of something we did earlier this year. Something that the whole country saw that displayed our abilities and our capabilities to everyone watching..."
"Ah, I see," Iida said. "The Sports Festival."
We were quickly approaching the mountain area, a tall pillar of spiralling rock standing up in the centre. We had to reach it, before everything dissolved into chaos.
"That's right, Iida. And because of that, we're now at a huge disadvantage."
"The other schools have probably figured out the same way to win that I have," Midoriya continued. "This is going to end up being a battle between schools. With that in mind, first, it's likely that they'll gang up against quirks they know."
"Wait," Mina interrupted, "does that mean.."
"Don't tell me..." Kyoka trailed off. She didn't need to finish; for reality started to set in, and the realisation of what was to come finally hit everyone.
I could feel their auras change, their adrenaline now spiked with dread and fear, including my own. It was all starting to click: UA High School was the biggest target in the arena, and we were about o get hit hard.
Blaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrreeeeee
"The first test will now begin," a female, automated voice sounded over the PA system, her eery voice echoing through the arena walls.
I knew it was coming - the inevitable huge swarm of students coming to take us down - but I never could've imagined how many there were to do so, and that they would be waiting for us already. All kinds of students from every Japanese hero school known to me stood in front of us, flying in from their perches high above us on the mountain. It honestly was one of the most intimidating moments of my life, so much so that I stopped out of pure shock.
I gulped. Let the theoretical blood bath begin.
"I knew it!" Midoriya called, stopping himself to look up.
I immediately recognised one of the Ketsubutsu Academy second years at the forefront of the chaotic onslaught. The one who had been overly friendly and flirted with me.
"I saw you on TV," Shindo called out to Midoriya, an evil smirk dancing upon his once kind-smiling lips. "That power of yours also destroys your body. Well, can't say I'm not about taking advantage of that!"
With that, he threw one of his balls at us, followed by a whole wave of them, all pelting down like torrential rain upon us. All aiming towards us. 'Shit,' I thought, watching as the orange balls drew closer and closer. We had to act soon, or we'd be done for before the exam even really begin.' Looking up at what stood before us and what was raining down upon us made me rethink sticking with this group.
