Nick and I's adventures landed us in Central Park. The park was quiet and peaceful with nobody but the two of us together.
I sat down on the grass and took a deep sigh. A few minutes later Nick joined me on the grass. I couldn't help but feel protected by him. In looking into his eyes my emotions took over. Everything happened at once. Nick, My ex-husband... I was just in emotional overload.
I took a deep sign and just laid down on my back. Nick followed me as he put his arm around me. We both were looking up at the stars as they were shinning super bright.
"So what really brought you back to New York?"
"what do you mean?" I said as I turned to look at him.
" I thought you wanted to make it work with your... uh... ex-husband?"
" I did... but when the one who wants to change says something and then does something totally different changes a person."
"you want to talk about it?" Nick said softly.
" I got home from the night I met you and when I got home I went to my bedroom and there I saw my husband finishing reading the letter and holding my rings. He got up and fell to his knees in front of me and started to cry. He apologized to me for everything and that he wanted to do anything to keep me from leaving. "
Nick stood still his eyes glassy and he couldn't formulate any words to help. I continued to talk.
" So we went to counseling and therapy and I felt like they were beginning to work... until one day I opened his computer to find an email chain between him and another woman wanting to meet at a hotel. So I did what I had to do. I left and went to live with Pam"
"Brooke I'm so sorry" Nick said very sincerely
" It's okay... things change and so do people."
After a couple more minutes I sat up and began looking around the park. I spotted a payphone down the hill. I got up and started to run towards it. Nick got up and was concerned.
"Brooke where are you going?"
" I got to take a phone call to talk to someone" I said screaming back
