"He may just be a kid, but has guts, huh?" a tubby man said as a young lady helped him up, eyes fully focused on my classmate behind me.

"Totally amazing," a young man muttered beside him.

I smiled, looking back over my shoulder to see Kirishima fist bumping the air. "That's my partner for you. A selfless, gutsy hero."

Noting that the civilians were all okay, I walked back over to where Kirishima stood above the villain. The white-haired guy's energy levels had dropped, and I saw no more signs of the blades so the effects of whatever he'd used must've worn off. Thank goodness.

The villain burst into tears, wailing like crazy as he tried crawling away from us. "Stay back!"

I sweat-dropped. After all that, he's crying again? This guy had to be the most pathetic villain I'd ever met.

"I just wanted to get stronger," he pleaded. "Please, let me go! I'm nothing but a pathetic weakling who wanted a taste of power."

"I can't do that," Kirshima said, stepping forward. "You shot Suneater. But I do get how you feel. Not long ago, I was-"

"No one cares about your sob story, wannabe!"

The villain suddenly took off from the ground, a bunch of blades protruding from his back and sending him hurtling towards where I stood. Kirishima and I jumped out of the way, watching with wide eyes as he flew by.

"Damnit," I cursed, blasting the blades to ash. "He tricked us! I should've restrained him when I had the chance."

"That's right," he called back, cackling as he flew. "Man, you two are so gullible, hehe. See ya! There's no way you're catching me now!"

Just as he reached the entrance of the alleyway, a dark shadow flew in front of him - a rather large and familiar one, at that.

"Sorry, I'm late to the party!" my mentor called, a cheeky smile on his face.

"Fat Gum!" Kirishima and I chimed together. Seriously, it was about time.

"When you're fighting a villain..." The villain hit Fat Gum's stomach and kind of just kept sinking in to it, so only his legs were poking out. "...they win by killing you, beating you to the ground, or running away. But the only way we win is by taking them in with no causalities."

The villain stopped struggling against Fat Gum's grip and just flopped where he hung, a visible sign that he'd given up. That's right, Fat Gum's quirk was Fat Absoprtion; meaning he could absorb anything into his larger than life body. That included people.

"Remember this in the future, you two," he said. "The key... is how fast you can make a villain lose the will to fight."

I stared in awe up at my mentor. Kirishima and I had given our all to stopping that guy, and still couldn't do it. But Fat Gum had done it within seconds. He may not have been one of the top ten heroes in Japan, but he certainly was strong. Now I really had to thank Amajiki for getting me this work study - working under Fat Gum was going to be incredible.

"Thanks for your help," Kirishima said, his ruby eyes gleaming under the alley lights.

"You're the best, Fat Gum!" I cheered, too.

"And thank you, young man." Kirishima and I turned around to see the civilians from before walking up to us, the tubby man being the one to have spoken. "You were incredible back there."

"The way you kept his blades from hitting us was insane," the young man exclaimed, receiving nods of approval from the others.

The tubby man stepped forward, and excited smile plastering on his face. "I've been watching heroes for a long time now; and most would be scared of a guy like that. You saved our lives!"
