Intrépide ~ Will Byers X Reader

Y/N's POV:

I opened the door to the science class running in with Will following close behind me.

"Stop! I'm sorry, Mr. Clarke. It was just a stupid prank." I yelled picking up the box.

"What the hell are you doing!" Dustin screamed at me.

"I told him to stop. We need to go. Right now. Right now!" Will and I ran out of the class towards the AV club closely followed by Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Max.

"I don't understand," Lucas stated.

"What do you not understand?" I retorted.

"Will saw something that looked like Dart last year?" Mike asked.

"Kind of, but there was no tail," Will whispered.

"But then he heard it yesterday. The exact same sound!" I yelled.

"Why didn't you tell us before? Dustin asked.

"I wasn't sure." Will sighed.

"So it's a coincidence," Dustin told us.

"How could it possibly be a coincidence Dustin," I asked.

"Okay, why is she even in here, she doesn't know everything that happened." Lucas snapped.

"You'd be surprised..." I muttered. "You know what fine I'll wait with Max outside."

Max and I sat in silence for a few minutes before she spoke up.

"So I have some questions."

"Sure what's up?"

"Okay first, how are you so close with them already since your so new. Second, why'd they kick you out."

"Oh, well you see." how do I explain this. "Well I'm the younger sister of this guy who they were close with last year, so it was kinda a free-in, and they kicked me out for the same reason you weren't allowed in there."

"Ohh I guess that makes sense... Any idea what's going on in there?"

Yes.

"Nope."

We both heard screeching come from inside the room.

"Guys, what's going on? Come on." Max said while banging on the door. She then grabbed a paper clip and tried to pick the lock open.

"Hey, Max maybe that's not a good idea."

"How else will we get in?"

Max got it unlocked but before I could stop her from opening it, Dart escaped. I tried stopping him but Dustin fell over top of Max and me.

"You let him escape!" Mike yelled at Max.

"Why did you attack him," Dustin yelled at Mike.

"Come on guys we need to find him," I yelled grabbing Will's hand and running.

"Don't hurt him. Don't you hurt him!"

The whole party split up around the school. Although I stayed with Will to protect him, my excuse being, I don't wanna get lost and I don't have a Supercom to use. We mostly walked around in silence but I was okay with that. Suddenly we heard Dustin's voice coming from Will's radio.

"West is clear too, Will?"

"South is clear. Lucas? Anything?"

"Nothing here man."

Will walked into the boy's bathroom and I waited outside. I know Will is going to find Dart in there, but it's the boy's bathroom come on. Soon enough Will came running out looking extremely panicked. I noticed the lights flicker a bit but they went back to normal. Will must be seeing the Upsidedown now. Before I could say anything to him he broke off into a run.

"WILL! STOP"

I immediately chased after him. We ran through the hallways of the school, out the doors, and out into the field. Suddenly he stopped in front of me and I ran right into him falling to the ground. When I opened my eyes it was like I was brought back into the upsidedown.

The air around us had become cold and thin, the sky dark, and I become terrified.

"WILL!"

"Y/N? What are you doing here?"

"I-I don't know." Will's eyes filled with tears as he turned around to confront the monster. I stood up beside him and grabbed his hand.

"Go. Away," he said looking up at the monster. "Go Away!"

I joined in with him screaming at the monster, I know I shouldn't mess with what happens, but I can't bear for Will to get hurt. Right before the monster gets to us I push him out of the way and stand in front of him.

"GO AWAY!" I screamed. The monster tried to attack me before hissing and backing away, he almost looked hurt. I yelled again but I was then suddenly pushed far away from Will and I hit my head. I couldn't process anything as I was in so much pain. I then discovered a cut on my temple and my arm, both bleeding a lot.

When I could focus again I saw the mind flayer began to possess Will. Before I could get back up to help Will I was brought back into the normal world. I ran back over to Will trying to shake him out. My eyes filled with tears thinking about how badly I failed.

Mike came running out shortly followed by the rest of the party and Joyce.

"Will. I just found him with Y/N, like this! I think he's having another episode!"

"No shit Wheeler!" I yelled back at Mike. Mrs. Byers walked up to Will shaking him and yelling his name.

"Will! Will! Will! Sweetie, wake up! It's mom!"

I shrunk to the ground crying, different people handle trauma differently so no one questioned it. Max walked over to me pulling me into a side hug.

"Y/N are you okay? You're bleeding! What happened?"

"I-I'm fine, don't worry."

"Will! Will, wake up! Can you hear me? Will, please just wake up. Please, wake up! It's mom! It's me!"

I was about to try and help again, but then Will gasped and opened his eyes.

I started to ask if he was okay when I felt extremely dizzy. I tried to walk forward when I fell to the ground. Before I completely lost consciousness I heard Will shout my name.
