Why Can't I Change

Taylor's POV
I go into my house with my siblings in front of me "Why did I get a call from the principal saying you were disrupting the class" My mom said, I was confused because I didn't do anything "I didn't disrupt the class" Ari said which shocked me because she never gets in trouble "I was asking the boy behind me to stop touching me and he wouldn't" she said "That's what boys do, he likes you" my mom said "No" I said quickly not wanting my sister to hear this stupidity "That's not how a boy should treat a girl. Saying boys will be boys isn't an excuse for them to disrespect girls and women. Ari you did the right thing, don't let him touch you again and if he does tell me or Leon and we will handle it" I tell her "Taylor don't tell her that!!" My mother said "You don't tell her that boys will disrespect her when they like her" I said angrily "Come on" I say to my little sister, we go to her room and Leon follows.
"Why didn't you tell us on the bus?" I ask her "Because they told me boys will be boys and that I should be happy a boy is interested in me" she tells me "Don't listen to them, no one should treat you like shi- garbage no matter if they like you or not" I say catching my self from cussing "Okay" she nods hugging me "I'm going to Candace's house this weekend to start a project" I tell them "Do you like Candace" Leon asks "She's a great friend" I tell him hating that I have to say friend "Ok" he says going to his room "Anything happens at school you tell me okay?!" I say and Ari agrees and I leave the room to pack "Oh shit I have to ask" I say to my self "Mom!!" I say running down the steps "I'm going to Candace's for the weekend to start a project for science" I tell her "Ok but we will talk about this when you get back" she says "Theres nothing to talk about" I say so she can't hear me "What did you say?!" She says "Nothing" I say flying up the stairs to my room.

My dad drops me off at Candace's house and I knock on the door. Rona answers it "Hello Taylor" she says letting me in "Candace, your friend is here!!" She says loud enough for her to hear. There goes that word again 'friend'. Maybe if I didn't run away from her at lunch today we wouldn't be just friends "Hi" My thoughts were interrupted by the person I was thinking about "Hi" I smile softly. I go up the stairs and into her room dropping my stuff neatly in front of her bed "Thanks for coming" she says "Why wouldn't I?" I ask immediately regretting it "Because you ran out on me at lunch" she said looking everywhere but me "Did I do something wrong?" She asks sadly "No no of course not. I just had a little panic attack. I have those sometimes, I'm okay" I say trying to make her feel better "You sure" she asks "Positive" I smile "Okay" she smiles back.
"We have all weekend to do this project and he said it's not due for another month or something" She said "So put the book up and let's have some fun!!" She added grabbing a soccer ball "Oh you want to get beat at soccer?" I ask playfully "Vis versa" she says "Race you to the backyard" she yells running down the stairs me following close behind, her house is pretty huge so I let her lead the way so I don't get lost.
We run outside and she of course wins since I was following her "Did you even try" she pouts. It's so cute when she does that, her little lip pokes out and she looks adorable "I didn't know where I was going so I followed you" I told her laughing "Well get ready to get beat in soccer hoe" she said "Hoe?" I ask "Oh it's definitely going down now" I challenge.
We play a few rounds of soccer and she wins the final score but I did beat her sometimes "Winner winner chicken dinner!!" She screams happily "You won by a few points" I say trying to hide my smile "I won" she continued cheering. I picked her up by her legs slinging her body across my shoulder "What are you doing?!" She giggles "Rona we have some trash here" I say acting like I'm going to put her in the trash can "Don't you dare" Candace says, Rona is laughing at us while she gets ready to make dinner "Rona, were eating pizza tonight" Candace tells her "Oh okay" Rona says putting her pots and pans away "What kind of pizza do you want Rona?" Candace asks "My normal" she says going to watch TV in the living room "Okay I'll order it" Candace says "To my bedroom" she orders pointing up the steps "Don't even try it" Rona laughs, I put her down and we go to her bedroom.
"How long had Rona been with you?" I ask "She came when I was 4 since my parents were never around to take care of me then they divorced and my mom is never home so Rona is like my parent" Candace says like it's normal "Enough talking about me. What was that about at lunch today?" She asks me "Don't you have pizza to order?" I say trying to get away from the conversation "We will talk about this another time" she smiles and picks up the phone "What kind?" She asks me "Whatever you get" I say not being picky. She smiles and orders the pizza's.

"Now what was it about" she asks getting off the phone "Do we really have to talk about this?" I ask "If you don't want to no but just know I'm always here for you" she tells me "Thanks Candace" I say hugging her which gives me butterflies in my stomach "Abs?" She smiles touching my stomach, I blush and look away "You're adorable" she says. Am I adorable like in a friend type of way or in a girlfriend type of way? I really hope girlfriend but I don't know. I hear my phone buzz and look at it, it's a text from Rainy "I'll be right back" Candace said going down the steps. I text Rainy and tell her everything that's happening and she tells me what happened in her day, her school day just ended because we are on other sides of the country so we have different time zones. Rainy tells me to kiss Candace but I don't want to do anything that will make us awkward towards each other.
Candace comes running back up the stairs with a red face, I couldn't tell if it was her from her running up the stairs or if she was flustered "You okay?" I ask, she just nods and smiles.

Candace's POV
I tell Taylor I'll be back and run down the stairs "Rona" I whisper yell "Yes, what's wrong?" She asks "Nothing, I have to tell you something" I say bringing her to a room and close it "What is it?" Rona asks "You know how I like girls and my mom doesn't like it and stuff right?" I ask, she nods "I-I think I like Tae" I tell her "You think" she laughs "It's not funny" I whine "I know you're not going to make the first move so you either have to toughen up and do it or let her come to you" Rona tells me "I think I'll just let her come to me" I say and Rona laughs "She has abs!!" I say excitedly "Is that what you're worried about right now" Rona says smiling "No but it's an important detail" I tell her "How do you even know that?" She asks lifting and eyebrow "It's not what you think, I hugged her and I could feel it so I touched her stomach with my hand, called her adorable and ran down here" I say "Well go back up there, don't keep her waiting for too long" Rona tells me and I nod my head "Go get your girlfriend!!" Rona says before I leave making me blush extremely hard, I run back up the steps and I can tell my face is really red.
