Always Second

Jace stood there watching Delilah stare at his parents fountain. He watched her face as her eyes sparkle. She looked as if she was glowing and although they had been here for a while, he didn't have it in himself to disturb her. He wanted to keep looking at the view.

They stood there in time for a while longer until Delilah gathered her thoughts together. Turning away from the fountain, she wasn't even aware of Jace looking at her for she was too busy n her own thoughts. 

"You ready."

Snapping out of it, Jace cleared his throat and started walking, "Yeah, lets go. By the way you look better in Savannah's dress than she ever would."

Delilah playfully rolled her eyes at him, "Oh please."

"Seriously, your butt looks great in that dress." 

Delilah turned around and glared at him. Jace saw her face flush down to her chest and laughed loudly. When Delilah turned back away from his gaze, she smiled to herself. It seemed that every time he laughed, she couldn't seem to stop herself from doing so. 

When they got back, Scarlett and Savannah were giving Delilah looks that she didn't know what meant and Carol was smugly smiling to herself also when she saw her son still staring at Delilah as he was all night long.

"So, did you like it."

Delilah ignored her friends and focused her attention on Jace's mother.

"I loved it. It was absolutely gorgeous."

Carol put her hand on Delilah's shoulder, and slyly smiled at her, "Oh, thank you darling. But one day, your special someone will do something even grander for you."

Delilah laughed off her comment and shook her head from right to left. There was no way that was possible. There was no way she would find such a person. Such thing as love wasn't made for her.

The next morning Delilah got ready and headed downstairs where she saw everyone sitting on Savannah's couches apparently waiting for her. When Jace saw her, he automatically got up from his seat.

"Finally up, sleeping beauty. Hurry up, we're going to get breakfast."

Delilah rolled her eyes at his endearment term for her and yawned.

"What are we eating."

"Salmon and lox bagels. They're a New York classic. You'll love it." Savannah shook her shoulders up exited.

Delilah just hummed in response as they all got in different cars. Scarlett, Mason, Savannah, and Ashton were all going in one car and Delilah frowned as her friends left her to get into Jace's car with Tyler. Delilah grunted as she got in the car with the two. 

"Ah, did Miss. Paige get ditched by her friends." 

"I've had enough of you Tyler."

Tyler laughed, "I'm kidding Lilah. I can call you that right." 

Tyler was giving Delilah puppy dog eyes and honestly it looked pretty to cute to her. She couldn't say no so she just rolled her eyes and laughed.
