As Delilah, Jace, and the kids made their way back inside, it was getting late so Jace decided to take Delilah home.

"Bye Aunty Lilah," all the kids said. Delilah got on her knees and hugged them all bye.

All of Jace's sisters came to her and hugged her bye as well. "It was so nice to meet you, please come back for another dinner next time."

Instead of replying, Delilah just smiled back. She didn't know if she should come back. Although her heart really wanted to, her head didn't know if it was right.

Lastly, Carol gave her a big hug which Delilah embraced herself in. It was so warm and comforting, she couldn't help herself. She guessed this was what a hug from a mother felt like. Delilah couldn't recall the last time she had such a motherly hug. It had been so long ago, too long ago. "Good bye darling. Make sure you come back, alright?"

"I can't be too sure about that." Carol frowned as Delilah tried to laugh it off. She wanted to get out of there. Although she had fun tonight and loved his family, she had seen too much love tonight and felt too many things that she didn't want to feel.

Delilah was resting her head against his window as he drove her back to her apartment.

"My family loves you. I think they like you even more than me now."

Delilah chuckled. He was being ridiculous. He knew it himself how much his family loved him.

Jace chuckled along with her, "My mom is already planning the next dinner get together. You'll come right?"

They were nearing her apartment as Delilah hesitated before shaking her head from left to right. "I don't think that's a good idea."

Jace faltered. Did he make a mistake, he thought she loved it tonight. "Oh come on, didn't you have fun tonight. They all loved you. Plus, my mother would be upset if you don't come."

As they approached her apartment parking lot, Delilah unbuckled her seat belt and gathered her things. "I thank you and your family for having me tonight and although it was fun and all, I don't think it's exactly appropriate for me to come again. But I do thank you for today. Good night, Jace."

Jace frowned as she exited his car. He didn't get her. What was the problem? He had never met a more complicated girl. Running his hand through his hair, he stepped on the gas pedal and zoomed out of there.

**

The following Monday Delilah was in her apartment cooking herself some mushroom and spinach pasta. She cooked for herself and Scarlett most of the time, that was if they weren't going out to eat as Scarlett always loved doing.

Ding.

Lilah, I forgot my marketing book in my room. I need it later today and I don't have time to come back to get it. Can you pleaseee drop it off for me? Pretty please?"

Delilah sighed, and replied back,

Sure, also have you eaten because I'm making pasta right now.

Thank you!!! I love you and your pasta would be great right now. I'll be in the building of my marketing class, you know where that is. I'm on the first floor.

Ok.

After Delilah finished up with her pasta, she packed it into two containers. She figured she'd eat with Scarlett.

Dressing out of her pajamas, Delilah threw on some dark jeans, a white tank top and a grey jacket over. She slipped on a pair of sandals and headed out.

Delilah saw the building in sight and as she walking there, she heard the chuckle that always made her stomach flutter. Looking in the sound of the direction, she saw Jace with a blonde head. Delilah's stilled and her heart stopped as she saw their mouths connecting as Jace held her by the waist and backed her into one of the columns outside of the building they were at. They were going at it and all Delilah could do was watch. As Jace tried to detach his lips from her's she grabbed his shirt and pulled him back to her making him chuckle against her lips.

As Jace pulled back again Delilah decided to turn away and stared fast walking towards the building in front of her hoping he wouldn't see her. She and Jace were nothing right? Yeah....but why did Delilah feel such a painful ache in her heart. Trying to calm her breathing, Delilah inhaled and exhaled.

Why did he have to joke with her so much? She had been hanging around him for too long, she started to take them seriously. There was no reason for her to be upset, Delilah had heard the rumors about him around the school. He had different girlfriends everyday. It should be no surprise to Delilah. But it still hurt. Why did she go to New York with him, why did she meet his parents, why did she agree to meet his family. It was all her fault she guessed.

It was ridiculous to think that Jace could be into her. For crying out loud, he was into blondes!! She was the exact opposite. What was she thinking?

Delilah finally made it to the steps and was about to head up.

"Hey, Lilah!!!"

She stilled, closing her eyes shut and groaned as she heard the voice of the guy that was doing things to her heart that she wanted to go away.

Maybe she should just act like she didn't hear him and continue up the steps. Ugh. Too late now, she stopped for a second too long. Breathing in and out, Delilah masked her expression to how she usually would, or at least tried to.

She saw the girl next to Jace kiss him one more time before leaving to what Delilah guessed was her next class. After the girl who Delilah guessed was his girlfriend walked away, Jace made his way over to her.

Jace had a big smile on his face as he came in front of Delilah. "Hey, what are you doing in the business section? How come this is my first time seeing you on campus."

How could he act so normal after she just caught him kissing his girlfriend. Delilah's heart was pumping as she tried to look as normal as possible.

"Scarlett left something at home and wanted me to drop it off for her."

Jace nodded, "Ahh."

Delilah followed his gesture not knowing what to say. "Your girlfriends really pretty."

Jace chuckled awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. He was hoping she hadn't seen that. Not that it mattered to him. He could be with whoever he wanted, in front of whoever he wanted.

Delilah shifted on her feet not knowing what to do. "Well I have to hurry and get these books to Scarlett."

"Oh yeah, of course. I'll see you around then."

Delilah walked up the steps in a hurry as Jace just stood there watching her walk away from him. When she finally entered the building, Delilah let out a sigh of relief. Her heart constricted as the scene from earlier replayed in her head.

Delilah hit her head with the palm of her hand. "Ugh. Get out."

After spotting Scarlett, Delilah made her way to her.

"Lilah!" Scarlett smiled in appreciation. "Your the best you know that."

Delilah rolled her eyes at her and smiled back at her. "Eat your food. Next time you leave your book at home, I'm not bringing it for you."

Scarlett pouted at her but Delilah wasn't kidding. She didn't want to see run into Jace and his girlfriend making out ever again. This would be her last time near the business buildings.
