Always Second

Delilah was packing her clothes as Scarlett and Savannah were gushing and asking her questions about Jace and her, when, speak of the devil, Jace called her.

Scarlett and Savannah were squealing as Delilah glared at them to keep quiet. 

"Hello."

"Hey, I totally forgot about it last night, but my parents wanted to invite you to come to our family's thanksgiving dinner. So, what about it?"

Delilah sighed, and looked out her room window. "You know I don't do New York, Jace."

"I get why you don't want to, but I also swore that I would get you in my city, with me, once more."

"I still can't, I'm already joining Scarlett and her family."

Delilah heard Jace grumble through the phone, "Is Scarlett there?"

"Yeah."

"Could you hand her the phone, I want to talk to her."

Handing the phone over to Scarlett. Scarlett took it and rolled her eyes, already knowing what he was going to ask her. "What is it Jace?"

"I want to take Lilah on Thanksgiving."

"No."

Jace was whining through the phone, "Oh come on Scarlett, she's my girlfriend."

"And she was my friend way before that. Don't forget, I let you have her and she's always mine on Thanksgiving and it's not changing."

Delilah could slightly hear, Jace growling through the phone. "Fine, but she's minion Christmas."

Scarlett mockingly laughed aloud at him, "Good luck with that." 

Scarlett handed the phone back to Delilah who put it back on her ear. 

"Hey, what's up."

"You're mine on Christmas."

Delilah rolled her eyes as she realized why Scarlett was laughing earlier. "Jace. We'll talk about this after fall break, ok?"

Waiting for his answer, it was so silent, Delilah could hear his brain working. "Ok, fine."

Letting out a breath of relief, Delilah replied back, "Thank you. Now, tell your family I'm sorry I couldn't make it and that I hope they have a happy Thanksgiving."

"Will do, call me later. Love you." 

Delilah blushed as she heard him chuckling at her pause of silence. "Alright. Love you too." Delilah said, mumbling that last part so that Scarlett and Savannah wouldn't hear her. But sadly, they heard it and started snickering at Delilah's now, beet red face.

Grabbing her pillows and throwing it at the two of them, Delilah walked to her bathroom to splash her face with cold water. When Delilah walked back out, Savannah was getting ready to leave as was she and Scarlett. After giving each other greetings, they headed out.

After Thanksgiving and fall break was finally over, Delilah and Scarlett were back on campus and preparing for final exams. It was going to be a stressful two weeks coming up.
