“That one is one of my favourites. When I read it I just picture someone being so in tune with their feelings and just living and loving everything that they can. It must be so freeing to be free.”
“I would think so.” Calum joked. He continued looking through the book and reading the passages I copied form my favourite writers. “Who wrote this one?” He asked. “‘I think that is the most wonderful feeling anyone can feel- feeling something that is so beautiful and different for just a little while.’ Who wrote it?”
“Why? What do you think of it?”
“I think it’s true. I think that everyone needs an escape form reality sometimes, or even an escape from their life and when you find something that is so unfamiliar to you that you end up getting lost in, I think it’s a wonderful thing.” I smiled, every day I found more reasons to like Calum.
“I wrote it.”
“You did?”
“Yeah, I wrote it a while ago.” Truthfully, I wrote it after the second time I hung out with Calum, I was stressed out about my school and I was beating myself up for not getting any progress with it and then when I was with Calum and every anxiety left me and I was just, tranquil.
“Is it about me?” He asked. My heart sunk and my breath caught in my throat.
“What makes you ask that?” He sighed putting my journal down and readjusting himself in the seat so he was facing me.
“Last week after we got home from the bar you told me that since you met me you’ve been writing about me.”
“Shoot. I thought that was a dream… Are you weirded out by that? It’s creepy right? I swear I’m not a creepy stalker!” Calum laughed.
“I don’t find it creepy. I’m actually really flattered. I’m living a bunch of lives I didn't know I was living.”
“You encounter many heart breaks my dear friend.”
“The heart was meant to be broken.” He said opening the book and reading it again. About twenty minutes later he put the book back in my purse and took out a small bag of chips. “So…”
“So…”“Read any good books lately?” He asked.
“Actually yes I did read very good book recently. It’s called Eleanor and Park… Park kind of reminds me of you but maybe just cuz he’s Asian.”
“I’m not Asian Hailey!”
“I know but you look it so shut up. Anyways the book was really good and cute but ending made me want to pull my hair out.”
“What’s it about?” We talked about books and movies for the rest of the drive. We got to my parents house at 3pm; my mom was at her studio getting the last of the things ready for tonight.
