Chapter 7

“DAD!” I yelled once I opened the door. 

“Hailey is that you?” I heard my dad yell. 

“No, it’s Angelina Jolie.” I said as he turned the corner. 

“Well in that case we have ten minutes until my wife gets back home.” 

“Eww dad!” I said hitting his arm. I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him extra tight. I missed him so much.

“Hailey, I don’t know if you know this but there’s boy beside you that looks like he’s very astounded.” I looked over at Calum and saw what my dad was talking about; his mouth was ajar and he was looking around the house, I forgot to mention I come from a family of money…

“This is Calum. He’s my new best friend.”

“Hello Calum.” My dad said holding out his hand and Calum snapping out of his daze and shaking it. “I wasn’t aware that Hailey was bringing someone.” 

“Oh, mom didn’t tell you? I told her on Monday.” 

“I haven’t seen much of your mother this past week, you know how she gets with these things. Anyways your sister is excited to see you.” He smiled and clapped his hands together. “She was at a party last night, she doesn't know I know; she snuck in at around 3am and I was sitting in the kitchen eating some cake when she walked in, so she only got up an hour ago.” We talked for a few more minutes until I showed Calum up to his room for the weekend. 

“Your dads cool.” He said putting his bag on the bed. “You forgot to mention that your rich though…” He said walking to the bay window that over looked the beach.

“Yeah well, when your mom is a famous artists and your dad owns a huge company you’re bound to wheel in some cash.” I walked over to him and looked out the window of the view I missed so much. “Want to come see my room?” He shook his head yes. He followed me down the hall to my room; my hideaway. It was big and empty; most of my things were at my place but I still had my duvet and some pictures up. “The view is my favourite part.” I said walking over to the sliding door that lead to the small balcony. I had bean bags out there that I used to write in. “The sunrises are the best from here; it just comes right out of the water and the water turns such a beautiful colour.” I stared out into the water and took in a deep breath; I was in trance; in a state of euphoria, the only thing bringing me back to reality was someone knocking at my door. “Come in!” I yelled as I walked back into the room. 

“Your father said you went up to your room to get ready.” My mom said. “Oh you must be Calum.” Calum walked past me and put his hand out for her to shake. 

“Thank you for letting me stay in your home.” He said and I couldn't help but chuckle.

“So polite.” My mom said smiling. “I just wanted to let you know that we are leaving in an hour, I want us all to go together.” 

“Ok.” I nodded. “I’ll start on my hair then.” I grabbed all my makeup and hair accessories from my bag and played them out on my bed. “I’ll see you in an hour?” I said looking back at Calum. 

“I’ll see you in an hour.” He smiled. As he was walking out of my room my sister was walking in. 

“Oh hey Calum.” She said walking past him. 

“You know him too?” My dad yelled from his room making us all laugh. 

“I need you to help me with my hair Anna.” I said. “I need you to help me but it up in like a messy bun but I want my bangs to be out and kinda wispy and just really cool. Also I need you to do my makeup.” 

“What are you wearing?” She asked me. 

“The sexiest dress of life is what I’m wearing.” I said grabbing the dress bag thingy and unzipping it pulling out my dress and holding it up to my body. “And look at the back.” I said turning it around.

“Holy shit! Dad’s gonna fight you on it but Calum is gonna love it.” She said Calum’s name in a teasing way making me role my eyes.

“Whatever, just make me look hot.” I sat in the little chair in my room for 45 minutes before Anna was done; she wouldn't let me see what I looked like until I put my dress on. I put my heels on after the dress and stood up straight smoothing down the material that was rumbled on my stomach. 

“You look so good.” She said making gestures with her hands; she tends to do that a lot. “I did such a good job. Let me take a picture of you.” She grabbed my phone off my bed and took a few pictures. 

“Can I see what I look like now?” She nodded her head and I walked to the ensuite bathroom looking at myself in the floor length mirror. “WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME? I LOOK LIKE A FREAKING MODEL!” I touched my face and smiled then did poses for about five minutes until I heard my name being called. 

“You better get going.” Anna said to me. 

“You aren't coming?” I asked her. 

“No, you have to be drinking age to go this year. It’s some stupid new rule.” 

“I’ll take lots of pictures and put them up on Instagram for you to see.” I grabbed my clutch that was in my suitcase and put my phone and lipstick in it. 

“Make sure you get a picture with Calum. Maybe I’ll morph your faces together and see what your kids are going to look like.” She laughed. 

“You are a loser and I am getting yelled at. I’ll see you later; love you.” I hugged her and then speed walked down the stairs to see Calum with his back to me talking to my dad and my mom looking at her phone. “Ok I’m here.” I said making them all look at me. Calum’s jaw dropped when he saw me and I got butterflies in my stomach; is this what going to prom felt like? 

“Honey, you look beautiful.” My mom said. “Red lipstick makes your eyes look more green.” 

“You haven’t even seen the best part of it.” I said smiling. “Dad, close your eyes.” I turned around showing them the open back of the dress, I looked over my shoulder and locked eyes with Calum. “Oh my, You look…”

“You look like you’re trying to get men to ogle your body!” My dad said. 

“Oh please dad, what’s so sexual about a back?” I walked past him and out to the car with Calum following close behind me. 

“I think you look beautiful, or maybe like a sex god.” Calum said before my parents got in the car. 

“Let’s hope that tonight goes well.” My mom said getting in the car. I had a feeling that tonight was going to a wonderful night.
