a/n- i hope you enjoyed part 1! it was very y/n focused, but don't you worry because pretty boy is here now! i hope you like how this story resolves, and thanks for reading!!!

Pushing through the doors you feel the cool night air chill your face, wrapping your arms around yourself for warmth as you let your back hit the wall just outside the bar. All at once the dam breaks and your tears flow freely, sobbing quietly and wiping tears away as they fall, your eyes stinging. You manage to steady your breathing as you stare blankly at the street, feeling lost. What had happened, how had you gotten to this place, and how would you get your shit together? You had just embarrassed yourself in front of the people whose opinions you value most- it was clearly time to pull yourself together. Your thoughts of self-pity were interrupted when the door next to you swung open.

There was Spencer, walking briskly toward you feeling the cold air chill him as well. He looks at you, taking in that you'd been crying and noticing that you were only wearing a tank top, when without a word he shrugged off his blazer and wrapped it around your shoulders. Putting it all the way on you mumbled, "Thanks Spence". It was all you could muster without breaking down.

"Of course. Y/N, you did an amazing job back there. I had no idea you had a voice like that! I'm not usually one for that sort of music, but you've officially sold me on it," he rambled, his compliments causing a slight smile from his friend. "I uh, I know you've had a hard bunch of weeks, and I'm just really glad that you came out tonight. It was great to see you outside of work again" he said sincerely. At his words, you choked back a sob. Spencer reached out and placed a loving hand on your shoulder asking with genuine concern in his voice, "y/n, you okay?". His big brown eyes searched yours for the true answer and he started again, "you know you can talk to me about anything, right?"

Taking a step towards your friend, you place your head against his shoulder and hide your face in the crook of his neck to muffle your sobs as the cries break free once again. He wraps his strong arms around you in a warm hug; for the first time in a month you were allowing someone to help you, to hold you. Considering Spencer was usually averse to physical contact, you were beyond grateful that he was here for you in your time of need.

"Look y/n, I might be out of line here and I know that we haven't really talked in a while, but whatever James did to you I'm sure that he's an asshole. I can't begin to imagine the hurt he's caused you, but whatever he did must've been awful considering... all that." Spencer tensed with resentment towards the man who'd hurt you.

"Um, yeah Spence, it was a bad breakup. Like horrible, but what do you mean- all that?"

"Oh, um, the song. Something about the way the lyrics affected you; the emotion just sort of crashed out of you in this big wave. It was almost like I could hear  the heartbreak in your voice. I won't lie to you y/n, it was really hard to watch you hurt like that. I was seriously choked up by the end. So uh, that's what I meant... I just know whatever that bastard did to you to cause you that much pain isn't right. You don't deserve to feel that way".

By now he was rubbing circles in your back as he consoled you. It usually pissed you off when he couldn't stop himself from profiling you, but it was nice to feel so seen, so understood. You took a deep breath, sniffling as you pulled off his shoulder to look up at your best friend. You felt guilty for burdening him with your problems. "Thank you Spence, like so much. I'm really sorry, for making a scene and for interrupting your night out... I should be able to handle myself better by now. I just- it still feels so fresh. It's been weeks, but if I think about it for even a second I end up in pieces all over again. I just don't know what happened." Tears were now escaping your eyes once more, but this time it was Spencer who reached up his hand to wipe them away. "We were so happy. And now we're just... nothing" you said, a sob catching in your throat.
