I've stopped missing you

I finally stopped missing you.
Funny how I realize that
At 11:57am on a Thursday afternoon
How odd and how strange
That monumental realizations
Come so quietly
And subtly
In the oddest ways
At the oddest times

It's just that I realized
I could genuinely ask you
"How are you doing?"
And care,
Without secretly wishing I was
A part of your life.
I could ask you,
"Where will you go when we graduate?"
And wish you the best
Completely content
That I will not be going with you.

The clock has struck
Thursday at noon,
And I've finally stopped missing you
