*Drawing of Viridi up top*

"W-What?"

"You heard me Palutena. I've taken interest in your human," Viridi explained. "Is there a problem?"

"Well, kinda. You've always hated humans and now...you just don't? It's quite odd," Palutena said, pacing back and forth in her room.

Both you and Pit were sitting a couple of feet away from Palutena, playing a friendly game of Uno. You could only hear Palutena's side of the conversation, but you had a pretty good idea who she was talking to.

"Whose to say I still don't like humans? I'm just curious about your human. I demand to meet her myself. Now," Viridi said.

"Well, if you insist," Palutena murmured. "However, the meetup will have to be a bit later. Y/N has a morning training session."

You perked up a little when you heard your name.

"Just send her over here for training. I'm sure Phosphora could give her a few pointers. Dark Pit could as well," Viridi suggested.

"Well...It's up for Y/N to decide. If she agrees, then it's settled. However, for her safety, I would have to send Pit along with her. Nothing personal," Palutena said.

"Pfft. Fine. If I can deal with one angel, two wouldn't make a difference."

"Great. I'll get back to you in a bit," Palutena said, cutting off the telepathic communication.

~

"Viridi wants to meet me?" You asked, feigning innocence. You had already met Viridi. After your little confrontation with Phosphora, you were patched up and teleported home. You had just gotten back a couple of hours ago.

"Yes. Strangely," Palutena explained.

"That's kinda weird," Pit said, placing down a wild card. "Viridi is always so determined to get rid of humans...Uno. And the color is blue."

"Maybe she changed?" You suggested. You also discreetly slipped cards from your hand into your sleeve. You now only held two cards. You placed a blue card down. "Uno."

"That is a possibility..." Palutena said. "However, it's very unlikely. Most gods rarely change their ways. And even if they do, it's for their own personal benefit. I'm not saying that gods can't change, it's just....well...unheard of."

"Yeah. I've dealt with plenty of gods and it's always the same thing," Pit explained. "If Viridi changed, then great! If not then..." Pit placed a 'draw four' card down. "Sorry Y/N. It was the last card I had."

"That's fine," You said, laughing a little. "I already knew I lost. I cheated too."

"Y-you cheated!?" Pit exclaimed.

"Yup."

You let three cards fall from out your sleeve, a small smile never leaving your face.

"Well at least your honest," Palutena said, laughing a little. "So...do you plan on going Y/N?"

"Of course." You stood up and stretched from your seated position. "As long as Pit is with me, everything should be fine."

"Yeah!" Pit exclaimed, standing up as well. "Let's get to it!"

"Glad to hear," Palutena said. "Now it's important you two stay on your best behavior. Y/N, no stealing. If the training session gets difficult, just bail. Make sure you don't overexert yourself. If you get hungry, I'll send some food over...Oh! And make sure you go to the bathroom before flying!...And don't ever take off your laurel crown!" Palutena adjusted the crown on your head as you tried not to laugh.

"Palutena. I'll be fine," You said, smiling a little. "I'm not going alone. Pit will be with me."

"I know, I'm just making sure...If you feel sick, please let Pit know," Palutena said.

"I will," You said, reassuring her. Palutena moved over to Pit and placed both her hands on his shoulders.

"Pit, I have the centurions on standby. If anyone lays a finger on Y/N...a swift death will await them."

"R-right!" Pit said.

"Best of luck to the both of you! Hades and I are overdue for a chat, so I may be busy for a while. However, if you are in need of my assistance, don't hesitate to call!" Palutena said, pulling you both into a tight hug.

"Right, thanks Lady Palutena!" Pit replied.

~

"So...what's your opinion on Viridi?" You asked. You held tightly onto Pit as he flew high through the air.

"Well...Viridi isn't open minded. She wants to wipe all humans off the planet because they aren't respectful of nature. It isn't right to say that all humans are bad. There are many that are good. Like you."

...Pit thought of you as a good person? Even with your habit of stealing and the constant trouble you get yourself into?

"Y-you really think that I'm a good person?" You asked, a bit surprised.

"Of course!" Pit exclaimed.

You looked away. You knew you weren't terribly bad, but you were also no saint. You've made mistakes in the past.

"Thanks," You murmured. It was all you could think of to say.

"No problem!" Pit said, smiling a little. You grew quiet until you thought of something else to ask.

"This is a bit off topic, but can gods die?"

"Well...Yes and no," Pit said. "Whenever Lady Palutena and I defeat a god, they do die. But they don't stay dead. They revive after a short amount of time. Around 25 years or so. It all depends," Pit explained.

"25 years?!" You exclaimed, surprised. Pit considered 25 years a short amount of time?!

"Yeah! I defeated Medusa 25 years ago," Pit said. You could tell he seemed proud of this achievement.

"...Pit, how old are you?" You asked, genuinely concerned.

"Haha...Well...I kinda lost track," Pit admitted. "When dealing with gods, time doesn't really matter. I age, but...not really."

What Pit said made sense, but what bothered you was the fact that he still looked adolescent.

"You guys really are immortal," You murmured. "So what's the point of killing gods if they'll just come back?"

"It's to teach them a lesson. And to restore peace....and to give humans a break," Pit explained.

"Ah, that makes sense. So what would happen if Palutena kicked the bucket?"

"Well, Lady Palutena keeps order. Gods would probably fight each other and humans would be wiped out in the process."

"That sounds horrible," You said, remembering how powerful Phosphora and Twinbellows were. Humans are doomed without Palutena and Pit's help.

"Yeah, but don't worry! I won't let that happen," Pit said.

"Glad to hear," You said, taking a look around. The skies were clear, and the clouds looked almost like cotton candy. The scenery was always beautiful up high, but...something felt off.

"Pit, something's wrong," You said, tightening your grip and closing your eyes. You braced yourself.

"Hmm? What's-" Suddenly something slammed into the two of you. The force was enough for you to be knocked from Pit's grip and you fell from the sky. You screamed as you fell fast, wondering what had just occurred.

"Pit!!! Help!!" You screamed, noticing that ground was approaching fast.

"Y/N!"

Pit nosedived to catch up to you and you reached your hands out. He grabbed both your hands and extended his wings, slowing the fast descent. After a couple of seconds, the decent was much slower as Pit gently set you on flat ground.

"Are you alright?" Pit asked, checking you over. "You're not hurt, are you?"

"I'm fine, just a little shaken," You said, trying to regain your composure. What hit you? You looked around and noticed that you had both landed in a garden of some sort. "Where are we?"

"This is part of Viridi's temple. We're in the garden area," Pit explained.

It was a beautiful site to see. Flowers bloomed in an orderly fashion, giving the garden an almost perfect feel. The grass was perfectly green, and a fountain sat neatly in the middle. You moved over to admire the roses, noticing that they came in many colors.

"These roses are purple!" You exclaimed, reaching out to touch one.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you!" You heard a voice say. You turned to notice that Phosphora was a few feet behind you, standing right next to Pit.

"Phosphora?!" Pit exclaimed, jumping a little and drawing his weapon. "When did you get here!"

"Just now," Phosphora said, rubbing Pit's head. "We're allies. There's no need to fight. Hey, is that your girlfriend?"

Phosphora pointed at you and Pit's cheeks flared red.

"W-Wha?!? W-What are you talking about!" Pit exclaimed.

"Aww! You're so cute when you're blushing~" Phosphora teased.

"I am NOT blushing!" Pit said.

"Oh but you are. You didn't answer my question either," Phosphora said, making her way over to you. She draped her arm over your shoulder and leaned in close.

"Hey, no hard feelings Y/N. Let's start off with a clean slate," Phosphora whispered.

"Right," You murmured.

"Enough Phosphora," You heard Viridi say, making her presence known. "I could honestly care less about Pit's love life."

"Right. Sorry," Phosphora said, moving back over to Pit. Viridi walked over and looked up at you. Her expression was unreadable.

"Hello human. You belong to Palutena, correct?"

"Hello Viridi," You said, smiling a little. "I belong to myself. These roses are very pretty."

"These roses signify an intense feeling of enchantment. People often give purple roses as gifts when they experience love at first sight. Hmph. Humans are such odd, vile creatures," Viridi explained, her hands brushing against the petals.

"Well I wouldn't consider myself vile. Palutena said you wanted to meet me?" You asked.

"Yes, I wanted to see what was so special about you. Palutena wouldn't adopt just any human," Viridi said, while poking you. "You're so fragile. Phosphora could snap you in two."

Well that was reassuring.

"Viridi, what do you want?" Pit asked, moving over to you.

"...I wanted to speak to Y/N in private. But knowing you would tag along sounded like a recipe for disaster. So, I brought you a playmate."

Pit was tackled to the ground by something that came out the sky. It happened so fast that Pit didn't have time to react. You blinked and turned around, trying to figure out who it was. Pit took a couple of seconds to process what was happening.

"Pitto??" Pit exclaimed.

"I told you not to call me that, Pit-Stain," Dark Pit said, pressing one of his blades against Pit's throat. You rushed over to stop the fighting but Phosphora stopped you in your tracks.

"Best to sit this one out, Y/N," Phosphora suggested.

"Agreed. We have more important matters to attend to. Phosphora. Keep those two company," Viridi said.

"Right away, Mistress Virdi."

Phosphora pulled out a bag of popcorn and foldable lawn chair, sitting down to watch the two. You noticed that both angels were now in a brawl and you facepalmed, worried about how this would pan out.

~

"Swear your allegiance to me," Viridi said, a smug look on her face. The two of you were a couple of feet away from the battle, watching from the sidelines.

"What?" You said, turning to face Viridi.

"You heard me human. If you swear your allegiance and I'll give you information on reviving your sister."

"...I can't do that. And I have a name Viridi. Don't call me human," You said.

"Well, that's what you are," Viridi said, watching the two angels fight. "Why do you want to revive your sister anyway?"

"Because I miss her....I blamed Palutena for her death at first, until I found out it wasn't her doing. It was Hades."

"Interesting. Palutena mentioned you're supposed to be training. Why don't you join in on the fight?"

She had to be joking. You noticed that Phosphora had also joined in the fight, forcing the two angels to work together and take her down. Stray arrows and bolts of electricity shot across the garden. Not a single place was safe.

"I'm not getting in the mist of that! Does everyone forget I'm human??" You exclaimed, hunching down behind a bush. "I don't have a million lives like you guys!"

"All the more reason to get your future vision under control. I don't want you dead before you give me some information I want," Viridi explained. "So, I'll consider your offer."

"W-What?"

"You heard me. It'll be a long, tedious road. But if you truly want your sister back, then you'll need my help."

"....Why are you helping me?" You asked. You didn't want to risk Viridi changing her mind but the thought of a human-hating goddess helping you seemed almost...ironic?

"Why not? Hades has always been a thorn in my side. He's 2nd on my "to kill" list. I'm itching to cause some trouble. Just to let you know, if you want to pull this off, then you'll need to get those visions of yours under control. You could prove useful for the Forces of Nature," Viridi said.

The thought of being used made your skin crawl, but you were willing to stoop low to save your sister.

"Alright. I'll try my best to follow your orders, but I can't swear my allegiance. I won't betray Palutena's trust," You explained, ducking just in time for lightning to shoot past your head. "Just to let you know, I'll follow Palutena before you. Nothing personal."

"What is she, your mom? You're starting to sound like Pit," Viridi said, a bit frustrated.

"Palutena pulled me out of a bad spot, so I kinda owe her," You explained, noticing the sky was turning dark. Thunderclouds swarmed around the garden as you felt the ground shake. You struggled to keep your balance as Viridi took a few steps back.

"Fair enough," Viridi said. "I suggest you step back."

You moved back and a large bolt of lightning struck the battlefield, pushing both Pit and Dark Pit back. It also caused the grass in the garden to catch fire, which Phosphora immediately took notice of.

"Ah! The garden!" Phosphora exclaimed, noticing the fire was beginning to spread fast. She caused the thunderclouds to drop rain and a heavy shower fell over the entire garden.

"W-whoops. Sorry Mistress Viridi," Phosphora said, sheepishly.

"I don't want to hear your excuses Phosphora! You're in big trouble young lady!" Viridi exclaimed, causing Phosphora to wince.

"Just my luck," Phosphora murmured, landing back on the ground.

You laughed at the interaction between the two and ran over to check on Pit.

"Are you alright?" You asked, kneeling down beside him.

"Yeah," Pit said, sitting up. "It's just a scratch.....Ow."

"Are you sure you're alright?" You asked, moving closer and checking him over for scratches.

Your face was inches away from his. Pit's cheeks turned pink as he tried to focus on anything else besides you. The heavy rain slowed, and the droplets fell perfectly off your skin. You hadn't noticed that Pit was staring. You looked up at him for a split second and smiled.

"Looks like you'll live to fight another day," You said, plucking some grass from his head. "I can't offer anything else besides a hug-"

"I'll take that!" Pit exclaimed, tackle hugging you. You laughed as Pit pulled you closer and rocked you back and forth.

"Aww! That's so cute," Phosphora said. Dark Pit rolled his eyes.

"Ew! Gross!" Viridi said, visibly disgusted. "Pit! I demand you clean this mess up this instant!"

"W-what? I didn't do this! Phosphora did!!" Pit exclaimed.

"Yeah, well you like totally provoked me," Phosphora said, crossing her arms.

"Oh come on. We all know it's your fault Phosphora. Stop trying to divert the blame," You said, helping Pit up. "Pit isn't your personal maid. Clean up your own mess."

"Hmph, a lot of talk from a puny human," Viridi said, smiling a little. "I almost would care if you weren't so insignificant."

"Oh please," Dark Pit chimed in. "You gods are just as insignificant. One little thing goes wrong and you all lose your minds."

"Everyone, we mustn't fight amongst ourselves. We have more a more dire situation at hand," Palutena said. You could hear her voice in your head. "Pit. Y/N. You must return to Skyworld at once. Viridi, I expect your aid in an upcoming battle."

"Hold on," Viridi said, "We're not through here. Why does the human need to go? Leave her here and take the angel."

"Absolutely not," Palutena said. "You've had your time, Viridi. There will be other times." A heavenly light shined on the two of you and both you and Pit were instantly teleported back to Skyworld.

"What's the matter Lady Palutena?" Pit asked.

"One of Hades' commanders is on the loose. We must defeat Hewdraw at once," Palutena explained.

"Right."

~

Hello peeps. I have returned.

Thank you all for the continued support! 9K+ reads? Thanks so much!! I haven't forgotten about the special, it's just taking ages to write. I don't want to scrap it, but I honestly don't want to finish it either. Wayyy too many characters.

Oh! And if you have any suggestions on short stories, don't hesitate to suggest them! Who knows, I may add them in.

Short Story:

"So Viridi hates humans, right?" You asked.

"Pretty much," Palutena explained. "Although she does like a particular human from another series."

"What the heck are you talking about Palutena?!" Viridi said. "I would never like a human."

"You mean Link?" Pit said, eating a piece of chocolate cake. It was his 4th slice.

"Correct," Palutena said.

"Puh-lease. I don't know what you're implying but I would never like a lowly human," Viridi explained. "No matter how strong and stunning he looks~"

Wow.

"Plus, you're one to talk Palutena. I know you like Pit. I played the original Kid Icarus," Viridi said.

"W-What?!" Palutena exclaimed.

"What?!!! Ack-" Pit exclaimed, choking on the chocolate cake.

"What?" You said, confused but interested in the conversation.

"Heh heh. Palutena kissed Pit at the end of the game. There were hearts and cherubs and everything. Kinda romantic for an angel and a goddess, don't you think?" Viridi said, a wicked smile on her face.

Wow.

"I don't recall that whatsoever!" Palutena said, shocked.

"That was the European/American version of the game! Of course they're bound to change some things! That is not! Canon!" Pit exclaimed.

"Pfft. Just keep believing that you half-wit," Viridi said. "Human, Dark Pit is the better choice."
