"Daddy!!" Jughead heard his son yell as he stood at the school gate, seeing his little mini me charge towards him, a huge smile on his face.
"Oof!" Jughead hunched over as his son came crashing into his body at full speed, before reaching his arms up, signalling that he wanted to be picked up. Jughead reached down under his armpits and placed him on his hip where his son wrapped his arms around his neck.
"Miss me much, Freddie?" He asked with a chuckle.
"So much." He spoke, eyes scrunched shut and words muffled in his dad's neat work shirt. He lifted his head suddenly. "I thought mommy was picking me up today..." The four-year-old enquired.
"She was going to but my flight got in earlier and so we came together." Jughead brushed Freddie's crazy dark locks out of his face. Jughead hated being away from his little family - especially for work - but coming home to them just made it all worth it. He'd never tire of seeing his sons face light up as he ran towards him, or his wife's sexy smirk as she sauntered up to him, whispering how much she missed him seductively in his ear.
"Hi sweetie!" Betty spoke, interrupting his thoughts. His wife was making her way towards the pair, looking the smartest out of all the moms in the playground, high heels extending her legs which were wrapped in a chic pencil skirt, paired with a classy blouse. Jughead looked around seeing the envious looks on the single moms faces when his wife reached over and gave him a deep kiss.
"Ewwwww! Stop it right now!" Freddie spoke in an authoritative tone.
"What? I missed my husband just like you missed your daddy, Freddie." Betty said with a light laugh, leaning her head on her husband's shoulder and reached into her purse to pull out a chocolate bar - their child's favourite.
"Ohhh! Yummy!" His eyes instantly lit up as Betty removed the packaging and placed it into his grabby hands.
"Come on, let's get you in the car." The family of three made their way over to their vehicle as Freddie grasped onto his dad's shoulder with one hand and munched on the chocolate with the other. "That should keep him quiet for a while..." Betty said, glancing at Freddie in the mirror of the car, whilst her husband pulled out of the parking spot, his wife's hand resting on his thigh.
Back at their home
"It feels so good to be home." Jughead announced as he walked through the door, his son's hand in his. Betty turned around to face him. "With my beautiful wife and my adorable kid." Jughead reached down and gently pinched Freddie's cheeks before removing the child's coat.
"I'm not adorable." Freddie grumbled, arms crossed.
"You're kind of proving my point there, bud." He chuckled, kissing his forehead before standing up and ruffling his curls.
"Whatever. I gotta go do homework. See you at dinner!" He yelled, making his way up to his room and slamming the door behind him.
"What kind of teacher gives a 4 year old homework?" Jughead asked with a frown.
"Oh, it's hardly homework. Ms Marley started a new thing where each student writes a list of 2 things that made them happy that week and 2 things that made them sad and then they tell the class on the last day of the week." Betty explained, making her way over to the kitchen and grabbing two water bottles for herself and her husband.
"Oh? Do we get to see them?" He asked, curiously. He always loved seeing the 'work' that his son did in school. It made his heart swell with pride everytime that his son gave him a new painting or drawing to put on the refrigerator or in his office.
"Mhm. Here, this is last weeks." Betty reached over to grab a small scrap of paper from a pile of paper on the kitchen island. Betty moved to stand behind her husband, wrapping her arms around his waist as he read.
"Wow..." He breathed.
"I know. I always told you that you'd be a good dad." Betty whispered into his ear as he felt his eyes mist over. The paper read:
Sad:
1)I'm sad that my daddy has to go away for a few days
2)I'm sad that I don't have a little brother or sister
Happy:
1)I'm happy that I have the best mommy and daddy in the world
2)I'm happy that I got my daddy's hair and writing skills
"He really wrote this?" He squeaked, turning around and grasping his wife by her hips.
"Yep. Who would have thought that a couple years ago, that you didn't want to have kids?" She murmured, leaning her nose against his.
"Mmm...now I want a whole damn football team." He whispered back. Betty looked up at him slowly. "Baby Number 2?" He asked, raising his eyebrow. Betty felt her heart lift. She instantly leaned into his embracing and captured his lips in hers. "Is that a yes?" He asks in a low chuckle.
"I don't know...are you sure about this?" She asked, quietly.
"More than anything. Besides, I think Freddie would definitely be happy." He said.
"Mommy would too." Betty spoke, quietly, leaning in to kiss him again before tucking her face into his neck.
"You're so much more than your father, baby. Our son and any other of our future kids are so lucky to have you." She said, eyes glinting up at him. He felt his heart crumble and beat faster all at once.
"I love you, baby mama..." he whispered.
"I love you too, baby daddy." She giggled, leaning in to give him a deep kiss.
"Eww!" Freddie interrupted, from the stairs. The parents broke apart but not letting go of their hands, roaming each other's body.
"I thought you were in your room." Betty said, raising her eyebrow.
"I was but I finished my homework. Wanna see?" Freddie asked, an excited look on his face.
"Of course we do!" Jughead exclaimed, picking up his son and placing him in one of the bar stools. Freddie passed the paper to his parents to read.
Sad:
1)I'm sad because I don't have a baby brother or sister
2)I'm sad because there aren't enough blue lego's in school
Happy:
1)I'm happy because DADDY'S HOME!
2)I'm happy because mommy bought me a chocolate bar after school.
Jughead had noticed that he had put down wanting a baby sibling twice now and he was confused that Freddie had never mentioned it to either of them before.
"Well, kiddo, how about we make one of those sads into a happy..." Jughead said, glancing up at his wife. Freddie gasped.
"Are you gonna buy the school more blue lego?" Freddie asked.
"No...but mommy and daddy could give you a little brother or sister. What do you think about that?" Jughead asked, watching smiles grow on his family's face.
"That would be amazing!" Freddie exclaimed. "You're the best daddy ever," He mumbled into the neck of his fathers work shirt.{A/N} ~ 1197 words (not including this)
