"Edaline, I'm heading over to the Vacker's for Fitz's birthday," Sophie called as she started walking out the door.
"Alright," Edaline called back from the kitchen. "Stay safe!"
Sophie smiled as she shut the door and got in her car, driving away from her house and making her way to the Vacker's.
She parked her car next to Biana's and got out, holding Fitz's gift in her hands. She knocked on the front door and waited for a minute before it opened.
"...Keefe?" Sophie exclaimed when she saw the boy standing at the threshold of the door. "You...you're here?"
"Uh," Keefe's face turned red and he stepped out of the way to let her inside. "Yeah, Fitz paid for my flight over."
Sophie nodded as she walked inside. "That's was nice of him."
Sophie had definitely not been expecting Keefe to be there. But, if he was here, did that mean that he'd maybe figured everything out? Had he come to a decision? Of course, he was here for Fitz's birthday, but he hadn't come to the party last year, so did that mean something?
"Oh look, it's Sophie," Biana said, skipping into the room. "And Keefe—wow—it was so nice of you to get the door for me." Biana gave them both knowing looks. "Why don't you two come into the living room where everyone else is at?"
Sophie and Keefe silently made their way into the living room and sat down. Sophie sat on the couch next to Dex, and Keefe sat next to Fitz (on the other side of the room).
"So," Biana said, grinning at Keefe. "How's your Sophomore year of college?"
Keefe bit his lip. "It's great,"
"Find any new friends?" Biana asked.
"Sort of," Keefe shrugged. "I really just talk to my roommate."
Sophie turned her head quickly to that statement. "Is that the same roommate that wanted to talk to me last year on your birthday?"
Keefe's face turned ever redder as he nodded. "Yeah, I got a new roommate this year, but we still keep in touch."
Sophie nodded before looking away again.
"Okay..." Fitz said, standing up. "I think lunch is almost ready. Keefe, why don't you come help me set the table."
"But it's your birthday," Maruca said, raising an eyebrow at him. "You shouldn't have to do it."
"You're absolutely right: it is my birthday," Fitz said with a nod, grabbing Keefe's arm. "And therefore, I can do what I want. Come on Keefe," Fitz pulled Keefe up from his seat and dragged him away.
"Well that was interesting," Dex said at the same time Jensi asked, "Does anyone else feel super awkward?"
Sophie let out a loud groan and buried her face in the couch cushions.

"It's gift time," Della announced, walking in and placing six gifts in front of Fitz.
"You know what astounds me," Dex said with a laugh. "You're twenty and you're having a birthday party. You're also getting gifts. You're twenty years old dude."
"Don't worry," Della said with a laugh. "This is his last year with a party. After today you'll have to depend on getting your gifts mailed to you."
"Or I just come back home," Fitz said, grabbing a small, blue gift. "Not necessarily for a party, but just to get my gifts and see everyone." He looked at the tag on the gift. "This one's from Keefe."
