It had been almost two weeks since Dream had last visited, having been caught up with other things. That left a lot of time for Tommy to do anything.

A sense of dread began to fester in his chest at just what might have happened.

A patrol of Pillagers? Mobs?

But there would be a body.

Someone's body doesn't just disappear upon death unlike mobs and animals, and there would be equipment or other random out of place items scattered around the camp if a fight did take place.

Exhaling sharply, he shoved his mask up to scrub his hands across his face.

Think, Dream, think, where could he have gone? Winter's approaching, nights are getting colder so a campfire was becoming necessary...He can't be in the mines, it's far too late into the day. Fucking

He dropped his hands at a sudden thought.

Did Tommy leave?

Blood drained from his face, For fucks sake, kid.

Without another thought, Dream stood and began racing for the Nether Portal. Tubbo had that compass, didn't he? Maybe it could help make some sense of this mess.

L'Manburg is surprisingly quiet for early evening, Dream noted as he hurries along to the White House, knowing that would be where Tubbo was. He pushed the thought aside however and brushed by Quackity, who called after him in confusion.

"Need to see Tubbo," was his only response before turning down a hallway and out of sight.

He knocks three times before entering, not waiting for permission.

Tubbo looked up startled from his paperwork, "Dream?"

God did the kid look exhausted. Eyes ringed red, from late-night crying no doubt—Tubbo was by far the softest person Dream had ever met. He's actually surprised the kid hadn't tried to bring Tommy back yet.

(Well, maybe not the softest person considering what just happened with Technoblade.)

Guess there's still surprise to be had with this lot.

Dream took a moment to catch his breath, "Tommy's missing."

Tubbo stared.

"I went to check up on him but there's no sign of him, his campfire is at least a few days old. I know he wasn't mining either, I told him to leave a note."

"Are you—are you sure he didn't just forget to—"

"I'm positive."

Tubbo broke eye contact, fear and nervousness crept onto his face. He fidged, crossing his arms and clutching at his elbows timidly.

"I need the compass, Tubbo."

What Dream wasn't expecting was for the kid to burst into tears. He flinched and panicked, "Hey—hey, oh XD, don't cry, please! I don't know how to comfort—" Dream babbled, raising his hands to reach out to grab his shoulders but thought better of it.

For a long moment that felt like an eternity where Tubbo just sobbed his heart out, the kid finally managed to pull himself together enough to speak.

"You can't use the compass."

Dream frowned, "What? Don't you want me to—"

Tubbo shook his head, "I—the compass," he hiccupped, looking just about ready to burst into tears again as he furiously rubbed at his eyes, "It's broken."
