Hope you enjoy :)
• CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE •| Dread |
"So, why are you here?" Dream asked, closing the door behind him.
You couldn't think of anything that could involve you. At least from the top of your head, there had only been one thing you had been mixed up in but all the others were dead.
Wilbur glanced your way, "While exploring, I ended up at Dueport," you tensed, "It's been largely rebuilt since the fire, but while there I met someone who had been looking for you, Y/N."
Lips pursed, you felt vaguely sick at the implications. It was tiny, but the thought was the only one, despite how impossible, that felt plausible. The very idea of saying his name brings dread.
"Wolf hybrid?" you ask instead, Technoblade's head snaps towards you and you meet his knowing eyes. Tommy himself looked like he knew who you were talking about from the little you had spoken about—about Cassian.
Dream, not knowing anything, just tilted his head, confusion written all over his face.
Wilbur nodded, "Cassian."
You swallowed, turning on your heels to grasp at the kitchen counter, feeling a wave of lightheadedness and nausea overcome you.
Dream, who was beside you, instead decided to guide you to the settee beside Tommy. You're ninety-nine percent sure you managed to murmur out a thank you.
"So," your voice cracks, wavering with emotion, "He's alive, huh?"
Wilbur pursed his lips and nodded.
"Who's this Cassian?" Dream questioned, but his voice held a tone of caution and hesitance like he didn't want to upset you further knowing it was clearly a sensitive topic.
Bless his bleeding heart.
"Cassian..." words evade you.
Instead, Technoblade, the sweetheart that he is, took over for you, "He was one of Y/N's friends. Not overly friendly, didn't play well with others and most of all, idiotic."
"He was—he is, uh, he's actually plenty smart," you correct, unsure about which tense to use, he was alive after all, somehow.
Technoblade snorted, "I wouldn't call him that for what he dabbled in and dragged you into."
You winced, "Technically, I wasn't dragged into it."
"You told me you were reluctant to do so," was his smooth rebuttal with a cock of a brow, which—true, you suppose.
Your lack of reply seemed to prove his point.
"What did he do?" Tommy pipped up, "He sounds like a right wrong'un."
A bubble of laughter escapes, but it's tainted with bitterness. You glanced Dream's way, then to the others, "I suppose I ought to start from the beginning since my heritage actually plays a large role in this."
"Heritage?" now that had Dream's attention.
You gave a wavering grin, "I guess this kinda defeats the purpose of my challenge for you, huh?"
"That doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things," was his argument, "This is more important."
You nodded, "Right. I should premise this by saying, I'm not a Player in the same way the rest of you are. I wasn't...born."
