10. Do You Yield?

A few days pass and the two first years get confirmation for their duel. The staff push aside the tables in the Great Hall to create the Dueling platform that was used for the Dueling Club years ago. The Duel could be witnessed by anyone and many people in the school have taken interest in the duel between to freshman wizards: both belonging to notorious families, one is the poster boy for purebloods and their ideology, the other is #different and talented in things like Quidditch and Charms. When the time comes for the duel, Tzuyu is more than ready. Chaeyoung is out of the infirmary but has to take a special chocolate that helps her in case she feels pain from breathing. The small girl is surrounded by their friends as they watch from the side as the tall girl stands on one end of the platform and Alexander stands on the other.

"Now that both parties are present, please step forward!" Professor Flitwick stands on an elevated platform to make himself tall enough to be at least eye level with the two. "Before I begin, you two must shake hands and promise to follow the rules."

"I promise to adhere to the rules," Both of them say at the same time and annoyance flashes in both participants eyes at the common phrase they both used.

"Alright then, the rules are: Non lethal spells only and any magical items used will be confiscated and the opponent will be declared the winner," Professor Flitwick announces, "Ways to win: Your opponent yields or your opponent is knocked out of the ring for longer than ten full seconds. Are both parties ready?"

"More than ready," Tzuyu says coldly. 

Alexander huffs and both wizards raise their wands, holding them vertically and parallel from their face. They both then sharply flick their wand hand to the side and bow before smoothly turning around. The two walk forward five steps, immediately turn around and get into dueling positions. Tzuyu has her wandless hand above her head in a closed fist, her wand hand in front of her, and both of her knees bent slightly as she leans forward a little while still maintaining good back posture. Alexander on the other hand has his wand above his head, his wandless arm extended in front of him like it's holding an invisible shield and his front leg is bent while his back leg is straight. 

"One...two...three-!" Professor Flitwick yells.

"Flipendo!" Tzuyu yells and she flicks her wand at the boy. A wave of magic hits Alexander, sending him backward and onto his back before he could even attempt to negate or deflect the spell. 

"YEAH TZUYU, GO GET HIM!" Jeongyeon whoops and the others follow suit. 

"Grrr... Expelliarmus!" Alexander yells as he whips his wand at Tzuyu who immediately drops to the ground to duck. 

"Everte Statum!" Tzuyu yells and Alexander immediately dodges. 

"Rictusempra!" Alexander yells as soon as he dodges and the spell hits Tzuyu, sending her tumbling backwards onto her butt. 

"Tzuyu!" Her friends yell in concerned unison. Chaeyoung was on the edge of her toes, gripping her robes, hoping Tzuyu wasn't hurt too much.

"Relashio!" Tzuyu yells and the boy immediately dropped his wand. "Everte Statum!" 

"Agh!" Alexander was sent backward and to the edge of the platform, Tzuyu imeediately gets up and points her wand at him. 

"Do you yield?" Tzuyu says sternly as she slowly approaches the boy.

"Never," He growls, "Accio wand!"

"Oh wow look at that, you do know decent spells," Tzuyu mutters, "Expelliarmus!"

The wand immediately flies out of the boys hand as soon as it lands in it, causing the audience watching to laugh. Alexander curses and looks back up at Tzuyu,

"Do. You. Yield? " Tzuyu says in a steely voice, pressing her wand on his chest causing him to fall backwards onto his elbows.

"I...ACCIO WAND!" He yells. His wand flies back to his hand and he slaps Tzuyu's wand away from his face. "Everte Statum!"

Tzuyu goes flying backward yet again and groans as she lands hard on her back. 

"Incendium!" He yells and just as Tzuyu sits up, her reflexes kick in and she deflects the spell upward. 

"What the hell," Tzuyu scowls as she points her wand at him, "Aguamenti!"

A jet of water shoots out from her wand and shoves the boy onto his butt. Tzuyu doesn't hesitate and immediately gets onto her feet. 

"Stupefy!" She yells and a little ball of magic hits the boy, stunning him. "Now...Do you yield?"

"Tch....I yield," He spats and everyone cheers. That was probably the most entertaining thing to happen other than a Quidditch match.

"Chou Tzuyu of Ravenclaw House has won the duel!" Professor Flitwick announces before turning to Alexander and speaking a spell that helps him carry the boy to the infirmary. Probably to get un-stunned. 

"Tzuyu!" Nayeon tackled the younger girl with  hug. "You did amazing."

"Yeah, Kid," Jeongyeon chuckled, "It took me all my time here to learn all of those spells and yet you're a first year who knows them. You really have studied."

"Yeah...um, some of those spells I performed for the first time..." Tzuyu scratches the back of her head.

"Wow so you were just improvising and hoping you were doing it right," Momo says and groans, "Ugh, I suck at remembering spells..."

"Regardless, you did great, Tzuyu-ya," Chaeyoung smiles up at her before wrapping her arms around the younger girl. "I have been avenged."

"Heck, I bet you know more spells than all of the second and third years," Jeongyeon chuckles.

"Yeah, I don't know Stupefy or Aguamenti....I just learned Accio," Sana frowns and Dahyun nods in agreement to some of the spells Sana just said. 

"Well, she is a Ravenclaw," Mina smiles at her and also joins the hug, causing all of them to join the victory hug. 

"It feels nice," Tzuyu smiles, "Hopefully he won't bother us too much anymore."

"Yeah," Dahyun chuckles, "Hopefully he knows his place now."

"My parents probably won't be happy that you challenged someone who's supposed to be your friend in their eyes," Nayeon shrugged, "They're probably going to find out about our friend group."

"...True...but I couldn't ask for better friends even if I wanted to," Tzuyu sighs and they all coo at her being sentimental. "I hope this summer won't be too bad..."

"Don't worry about that now," Sana ruffles the tall girl's hair, "Let's go out and have a snack, Jeongyeon got muggle snacks in the mail yesterday...I want to try these things called Pocky."

The group of nine leave the Great Hall in triumph and head down to the lake with Jeongyeon's muggle snacks. They share chips, various chocolates, and the Pocky Sana wanted. As they eat, they laugh and converse as if they had all the time in the world and a pretty tense duel had not just occurred. Tzuyu's sense of doom lingered in the back of her head, heart and throat but as she sat there with her friends...she forgets all about what she knows to be impending doom.
