3MIX searched the room, remembering what Tzuyu said about the location of the box. First they looked for the charred wardrobe she mentioned and looked around it for a broken up metal table. They found said table and proceeded to look from there, finally stumbling upon the stolen box and notes of Im Nayeon. They gathered her stuff and threw it into an enchanted bag before looking around at the other notes by Lilith.
"She's street smart...but she doesn't appear to be book smart," Jeongyeon snorted at the notes, they were so far fetched.
"That's mean to say," Jihyo scolded before taking a look at the notes, "...but you may be right."
"I guess we won't be stealing her notes then," Nayeon chuckles and they look around the room a little to see if there's anything else of interest.
The three raced out of the room of requirement and waited for the door to the room to reappear. When it did, they were back where Chaeyoung and Tzuyu were. The two came out of the shadows and Nayeon gave them a thumbs up. With that signal, they came out and hugged the three.
"C'mon, let's go back to bed before we're caught," Jihyo whispered and they all nodded before racing through the cool corridors of the castle.
The next morning, they nine met at breakfast and quietly shared the successes of their missions with one another. They also spotted a very grouchy Alexander Nott and Lilith Garnier, everyone was whispering about their involvement with one another. Nayeon, before going to class, told the teachers she found her box stuffed in a tree trunk on the edge of the dark forest. The teachers were slightly disappointed to find out the culprit wasn't caught but called off the search when Nayeon reassured them it's all okay. After all, they already did punish the culprits.
After classes that day, the group met up at the lake. They put together the clues, set off the fire works and studied the pictures. They did this every day after school and reading up on things in the library all until one day, Nayeon pieces it all together. She gathers the numbers Mina helped gather from the falling firework sparks and with Dahyun's help, figures out the pattern repeats twice...not to help them get the numbers....but the entire set of numbers.
"The coordinates they make....are....27.1127 and 109.3497," Nayeon writes down, "But...the separate set of numbers...I don't get."
"Maybe they're letters," Momo pipes up and everyone looks at her in shock.
"That...that's actually a good idea!" Jeongyeon laughs heartily and side hugs the girl.
"Ah, you do have a brain, pabo~" Sana teases and Momo rolls her eyes.
"The second set of numbers translate to 'South' and 'West,'" Dahyun says and Nayeon pats the younger girl's head.
"Thank you, you two," Nayeon smiles her bunny teeth smile.
"Good job," Mina says softly and kisses Momo's cheek softly.
"The coordinates...where is it?" Jihyo says and rummages through a book of maps, "It's Easter Island."
"The final task is on Easter Island...?" Tzuyu frowns, "What could you possibly do there? Isn't that also a muggle tourist attraction?"
"Well, judging from the color of the box...it'll happen at night," Jihyo says and they all 'oh' simultaneously.
"What if it's not the place but what's on it?" Chaeyoung pipes up, 'What if you have to fight those giant stone heads or something in a different place?"
"Well, regardless of what it is, Nayeon needs to tell the teachers she figured out the clue and help her prepare for any scenario regarding Easter Island," Jihyo says and pushes Nayeon to the door, "We know what the clue is, now we gotta burn your notes...have fun telling Professor McGonagall!"
"I'll go with you," Jeongyeon jogs over to Nayeon and the couple leaves the library.
"Now...I wasn't lying about burning the notes and stuff," Jihyo says, "Momo, Mina, help me put away the books...Chaeyoung, Tzuyu take half of the notes and burn them near the lake...Sana, Dahyun, burn the other half of the notes at Hagrid's campfire."
"Alright!" The groups split to do their assigned tasks.
The Maknaes made their way to the lake and when they got their, Tzuyu threw the notes into the air and Chaeyoung used a fire spell to burn them all. The embers and ashes flew away in the wind and the two decided to just stay at the lake to relax.
"Hmmm, it's been awhile since we just lay here," Chaeyoung sighs and Tzuyu turns to the shorter girl, "Uh, what's up?"
Tzuyu doesn't say anything, she just stares at her best friend. They're different in terms of personality and upbringing but they somehow got to the same place, with the same people, going through the same things. It's amazing. She's had so much fun and went through such fantasy-book-like adventures with her best friend...
"Tzuyu-ya?" Chaeyoung asks softly and Tzuyu blinks, she was staring for too long.
"Oh, um, I'm sorry...just zoned out..." The taller girl blushes.
Tzuyu finally makes eye contact with Chaeyoung and when she does, she almost audibly gasps. The setting sun behind her made her short hair glow...the orange light softly reflected off the shorter girl's cheeks...her eyes sparkled but they also had hints of concern mixed with curiosity.
"I-I'm just thinking about everything that's happened," Tzuyu says, "The box search...my spy-like work...it was all tiring."
"Hmmm, you didn't have to trail Alexander but if you hadn't, we wouldn't have gotten that box sooner," Chaeyoung says, "How much sleep have you gotten in the past, like, two months? You've also done all your advanced homework..."
"Good question," Tzuyu chuckles softly and Chaeyoung frowns.
"You're taking a nap right here, right now," Chaeyoung shimmies closer to her friend and wraps her arms around her, making the taller girl's head rest in her arms, close to her chest.
"I, uh, are you sure?" Tzuyu feels heat rising up to her already burning face.
"Yeah, I'll wake you up when it's time for dinner," Chaeyoung says reassuringly and after a moment, Tzuyu relaxes into her arms.
A few minutes pass until Chaeyoung feels her breathing even out. She carefully shifts to look down at her tall best friend and almost coos at the sight of a peacefully sleeping Chou Tzuyu. She studies her calm facial expression and notes how different yet the same it is to her face when she's awake. Slightly less worry lines and that hidden caution...just a seemingly innocent thirteen year old girl.
"...she's pretty..." Chaeyoung thinks aloud and nearly pees her pants when Tzuyu shifts slightly. She neatly tucks strands of hair out of her face and notices something strange behind Tzuyu's ear. A strange marking that she hadn't noticed before, it was like...a paw print tattoo. She was sure Tzuyu didn't get tattoos but she decided not say anything...for all she knew it was a birth mark or something she never noticed before. All that mattered is that Nayeon got what's hers and they can finally relax a little.
