Marissa

I rested my head on the window as we drove to our home.

Marcus was trying to get my attention the whole drive but he knows that I'm upset and I need my time.

"Marissa, you can't be seriously mad at me for taking you home."

I turned sharply to face him, "I told you that I didn't want anything to do with him. Was that not clear when I decided to pay my own rent, my own bills and full on take care of myself."

He tapped his chin dramatically, "Hm, I don't know maybe it wasn't clear because you still allowed him to pay your tuition."

"Well, that's the least he can do. You know I can't get any scholarships or financial aid because of him."

He exhaled and shook his head before the car slipped into silence.

When we arrived, Fredrick, my father's butler came and got our things.

My father is a well off prick. Absent most of our childhood because of work.

Flat out ignored us when we were growing up yet Marcus forgives him.

We were raised by our nanny, Harriett, and when we met the Manning's in our teenage years, that was the closest we got to a real family.

This is the first time I'll be seeing our father in three years.

The Manning's had a joint vacation loft with us.

That's where we were today, all of us in one house for thanksgiving.

My father rose from his seat beside a woman who is beautiful but unknown. He stepped forward in our direction and gave Marcus a hug first.

"It's good to see you guys."

I rolled my eyes then walked pass them to go up to my room before he could try to hug me.

When I opened the door I was surprised to see someone was already in there.

Ronnie, was applying mascara to her lashes in front of my mirror, in my room.

"I'm sorry. I ran out of mascara."

Ronnie, is Jeremy's older sister who was sometimes a bitch.

Once she finished, she put it back where she found it.

"See you later," she said. "Maybe I can work on your brows when I get back because they look terrible." She waved and left my room.

I didn't even bother answering her bitter ass I just closed my door and fell on my bed relaxing.

Minutes later there's a knock at my door.

"Who is it?"

"It's me," Marcus said. "Daddy dearest would like to speak to you, he wants you to meet someone."

I got up and opened the door. "Please tell him that I'm tired and I'm taking a nap."

"I'm not lying for you Ri because you're doing too much."
