14. Shaking

"Oh, you're a pureblood? Sorry if that's rude, you guys just made it sound like all purebloods are in Slytherin..." Lia says her voice trailing off as she realizes that she probably asked a dumb question. 

"Yeah, well, Tzuyu over hear is a good and strong pureblood," Wendy smiles at the taller girl, "Her best friend is muggleborn and she challenged a pureblood purist or whatever his family calls themselves to a duel to avenge her friend whom he nearly killed. And she won!"

"Oh wow, that's really cool," Lia smiles, "I can't wait to learn magic."

"It's really cool," Tzuyu smiles and her smile widens as she remembers whooping Alexander Nott's butt.

"Now that everyone is sorted...I have no significant announcements for this school year so..." Professor McGonagall announces with a smile and raises her arms, "Let the feast begin!"

When all the food appeared on the table, Lia's eyes went wide and she yelped but her expression quickly morphed into one of awe. Everyone chuckles at her and the other first year's reactions before chuckling and picking food to put on their plates. Tzuyu gladly took mashed potatoes, ribs, fruits, vegetables, and breads of all sorts and basically scarfed it down as elegantly as possible. 

"You were really looking forward to all of this food, huh?" Mina smiles and Tzuyu nods. 

"At home we're very...modest...with the amount we eat," Tzuyu says sheepishly as she puts down a rip bone and wipes her hands. "I...feel free for once."

"That's great, Tzuyu-ya," Mina says endearingly before drinking the rest of lobster bisque and reaching for more. 

When everyone was done eating, the first years of her house were all ushered out by the prefects. Tzuyu watches as Nayeon and Jeongyeon, who are the fifth year female Prefects help lead the first years of their houses down to their houses. As she begins to walk out of the Great Hall, Chaeyoung tugs on her sleeve and intertwines her fingers in her best friend's hands. Chaeyoung had moves her red braided bracelet from her left to right so that when they held hands, the blue bracelet that was on Tzuyu's left would be next to hers. 

"Disgusting," They heard Alexander Nott scoff as he walked out and Chaeyoung nearly let go of her friend's hand but Tzuyu just gripped it harder.

"Yeah I know, Nott, the hair gel you use is disgusting," Tzuyu says loudly and people around them snicker as they all glance at Alexander. 

"Why I oughta-" Alexander starts to turn around but Tzuyu just ignores him and turns to Chaeyoung.

"Dwayne 9+4-1?" Tzuyu whispers and Chaeyoung smiles and nods as they walk away from Alexander and the Great Hall. They depart when they have to go to their houses and Tzuyu chuckles at the stunt she had just pulled. 

Hours later, Tzuyu is laying in bed, the lights are out within the castle, and it's nearly 12AM. It was pretty easy for Tzuyu to stay awake due to the fact that when she was at home she had trouble sleeping from whatever she did during the door or because she was busy staring at the sketches of Chaeyoung and her friends. But along with her messed up sleep schedule, she was shaking with excitement to talk with Chaeyoung one on one with no one around for the first time in months. 

The girl quietly snuck out of her room, out of the Ravenclaw commons, and through the corridors to the ruins of the secret passage to the Shrieking Shack. When she got there, she noticed that she was the first one their so she hid behind some rocks and just studied the undergrowth growing into the rocks all over. 

"Tzu?" Chaeyoung whispers as she enters the passage and Tzuyu pops her head up. The action made Chaeyoung snicker because it was like that of a whack-a-mole in the games back at arcades at home. 

"Ready?" Tzuyu whispers and they perform the in sync ritual of opening the magic rock door. 

When the rocks shifted and created a little door way for them, they slipped through and quickly closed the rocks behind them before running down to the shack itself. When they arrived, they dusted off everything using the actual dusters and used their magic to make sure the bed didn't have animals or anything in it. When everything was clean, they collapsed onto the bed and just enjoyed each other's presence for awhile.

"So...what do you want to do this upcoming school year?" Chaeyoung turns onto her side to look at Tzuyu so the younger yet taller girl does the same. 

"I don't know...get through it? I'm pretty excited for Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology," Tzuyu says with a smile, "I wish we could go to Hogsmeade this year but we have to wait until next year. At the end of next summer, my Aunt and Uncle are going to spend a year or so at some place in Iceland for my Uncle's job so my grandmother will come to take care of us. Unlike my Aunt and Uncle, she doesn't care about literally anything will probably sign the permission slip when we get in next school year."

"Wow, that's awesome...you said for a whole year, right? So does that mean I can send you letters the following summer until they come back?" Chaeyoung asks and Tzuyu chuckles.

"Wow, you're already thinking ahead aren't you?" Tzuyu smiles but nods, "Yeah, I guess, it'll be nice but we still have to get through this year and next summer."

"Touche...but uh, yeah I'm excited for Care OF Magical Creatures as well, not so much Herbology because of what Jeongyeon-unnie has said about it," Chaeyoung frowns, "Something about some root baby that can deafen people with a scream when you pull it out of it's pot."

"Heh, yeah, those are baby Mandrakes," Tzuyu chuckles, "You have to wear ear muffs or else you could lose your hearing or pass out."

"You can't actually lose your hearing, can you? Injuries like that aren't permanent like in the muggle world right?" Chaeyoung asks.

"Yeah they can fix your ear drums...well...it's more like replace it entirely and growing a new one with magic," Tzuyu says and Chaeyoung gasps in awe at the thought. 

"Magic is so cool...does that mean magic might be the cure to cancer?" Chaeyoung asks and Tzuyu frowns.

"What's cancer?" Tzuyu asks and Chaeyoung saw that coming so she explains. "Oh wow, um, I don't know...I'm sure some people have used tried to use magic but I actually don't know the answer to that one."

"ah, well, that's okay if you don't know," Chaeyoung says with a smile, "You only wizarding world stuff. You're like my wizarding world expert and I can be your muggle world expert!"

"Yeah, that sounds cool," Tzuyu smiles back at her. "...Let's make this school year a good one."

"Of course...I know I'm just a second year but I plan on trying out for Quidditch," Chaeyoung says with a sheepish smile.

"Oooo, going for that Quidditch Captain and Seeker role like the Harry Potter?" Tzuyu asks wiggling her eyebrow with a teasing smirk and Chaeyoung sheepishly pushes the taller girl's face away. Tzuyu just laughs at Chaeyoung's embarassment for what she saw last Christmas in Jeongyeon's Mirror of Erised remake. 

"Yes, I guess I am," Chaeyoung turns red. 

"What else did you see in that mirror, anyways?" Tzuyu asks. "I saw all of you guys with me with a bunch of animals in mine and we all seemed to be happy and without worry."

"I...well, I did see myself as Seeker and Captain but...I also saw you there too," Chaeyoung explains and her face gets red. 

"Oh wow you saw me too, huh?" Tzuyu smiles, "I was still taller than you, right? By a lot?"

"Yah!" Chaeyoung's flustered expression turns into one of offense as she pushes Tzuyu's shoulder. 

"Ha ha, well, whatever you saw," Tzuyu says with a smile as she takes Chaeyoung's hand to do what Chaeyoung taught her was called a "pinky promise", "We'll get through everything together to get you what you want. You'll be so happy that you won't see anything except yourself in the mirror, like the happiest person in the world!"

"Hmmm, promise? That would require staying by my side forever," Chaeyoung asks with an eyebrow raised as her pinky tightens on Tzuyu's.

"I promise."
