I read today
That every poet
Has a core emotion
That they write all of their poems
From the perspective ofI would take that
A step farther
And say that
Every human
Has an emotion
They feel more deeply
Than all othersFor me
I think that emotion is angerI feel happiness
So joyfully
So fillingly
So much it bubbles
From my soulAnd I feel sadness
So deeply
That it sits in my stomach
And cools me
From the inside out
Drowning me
In numbnessYet even happiness
Even sadness
Subside
And passAnger
Anger is always with me
I have a rage
That constantly
Yearns to be fedI can hold grudges
For years and years
Decades of my lifeAnd when I hurt
I burn against the offender
For years to comeAnger
Anger lives inside of me
It does not fadeAnd if humans
Are guilty
Of having
A core emotion
My core emotion
Must be anger
And anger
Must be an emotion
That is fought againstI refuse
To allow
My core to be
What burns me
ForeverI refuse to smoke
And blaze
For my entire life
Anger will not drive me
And it will not
Possess me
With it's dangerous licking flames(10/02/21)
