Chapter Twenty-Three
You were sitting down in Sara's front room, it was rather big but not as big as the Kuran Family Home. Zero was sat next to you, refusing to leave your side for even a second in the presence of Sara.
She poured the tea in front of you both as you looked around, you were making it seem like you were enjoying looking at the decor; but what you actually was doing was searching for the book.
It annoyed you how Yagari didn't explain what it looked like but you at least had Zero with you who might know what he's looking for.
"You've got a lovely home Sara." You smiled at her, she smiled up at you and thanked you concentrating on pouring the tea.
She slides you and Zero a cup and then took a sip out of her own. "So, what's the deal with you two? He is after all a Level E, Elissa." She questioned tilting her head a little. You looked at Zero and sighed.
"He's never going to fall to a Level E, he's important to me. We were childhood friends."
"Back when you were human I'm guessing?" Sara questioned and you nodded.
"Would you like a tour of the house?" She smiled and you nodded.
"Of course, I'd love to see more of it. This room is so pretty. The decor we have I've always found a little bit plain. But Kaname likes it so we've never changed it. It holds sentimental value too."
Sara smiled and stood up, "I understand completely what you mean. Kaname has always taken simplicity over extravaganza things. He always told me he likes to find the beauty in simplicity." Sara chuckled leading you and Zero off to a door. She opened it and it opened up a wide long hallway.
She walked ahead as you followed with Zero. She showed you most of the rooms and Zero stopped in front of a door that Sara walked past. You looked back to him and he was staring at the door. You looked over to Sara, "Sara, what's in that door? You walked right past it." You asked slyly, pointing to Zero and she looked back and smiled.
"It's my mother's and fathers study. I never really open it, it reminds me of them so I can't bare to go inside." Sara explained and she turned, you emphasised with her knowing how it felt to be reminded of people you lost. You always hated the feeling, it stung worse than anything. You didn't want to pry open Sara's feelings but you had no choice. Zero clearly sensed something.
"Forgive me for asking this Sara, but what were they like?" You asked and Sara stopped in her tracks. She turned to you slowly.
"They... They were kind, but very strict. I lost them at a very young age. Similar to you I imagine." Sara explained her last sentence seeming somewhat bitter.
"Excuse me?" You asked a nerve clearly struck. "What do you mean?"
"Oh, your parents were victims of suicide too right?"
"Actually no, my parents were murdered by my uncle." You told her defensively, feeling angry she was trying to attempt to tarnish your parents names and reputation.
"Your uncle? Hmm, Kaname told a different story."
"To protect Yuuki and I."
"It would seem so..." She nodded and took your hands, "Forgive me, I've always believed Kaname." She smiled and you nodded slowly.
"Come with me, Zero you can do what you like in the meantime. I want some girl to girl talk with Elissa." Sara smiled and took off with you. It made you feel uneasy, you just hoped with the distraction of you Zero would get in the door.
She opened a door and pulled you inside, she closed the door and locked it making you very aware of what she was now doing. Sara walked over to you and smiled, but something had changed. It wasn't the same smile she'd normally wear.
