It had been a few days since the boss fight with The Norns. Since then, your group had been traveling to the different realms that opened up one after another. You were tasked by Odin, Father of the Gods, to defeat as many threats as possible to make the Final Battle much easier. So far it was just Global Missions like taking down large hordes of enemies. Nothing too serious. For now at least.

Yuuki had finally let you return to your own home yesterday. It felt a bit strange because you don't normally leave your apartment for extended periods. The place was a bit untidy so you spent most of yesterday cleaning. Tidy home, tidy mind, and all of that.

Bored, you browse through a few T.V shows before receiving a text from the group chat. It was Akira.

Akira: a new game just released for the amusphere
Akira: you guys wanna play
You: What is it?
Akira: something called the manor
Akira: it's multiplayer
Silica: This sounds like a horror game.
Akira: it is
Klein: it's been a while since I've played a good horror game. I may as well check it out
Liz: Sounds fun!
Yuuki: I'm in!
Shino❤: Why not?
Silica: If everyone else is playing then I guess so.
Kureha: Lighten up Silica. It'll be fun!
Agil: I don't doubt that but unfortunately I'll be working for quite a while tonight. My wife is ill.
Zeliska: I'll be working as well. Sorry.
Akira: no worries
Akira: so is everyone ready to play in an hour?
Akira: you'll need to purchase the game first
Akira: it's not too big thankfully
Shino❤: Sounds good. See you all in an hour.
You: What about Alice and Eugeo?
Liz: Kikuoka said they were working on something and needed their fluctlight to do it.
You: I still don't trust him.
Shino❤: No one does. But he has Kirito, Asuna, and Leafa so we'll have to wait for them to awaken before anything else.
Akira: i know this is a serious topic, but can we install the game now?
Akira: the scares i want to experience are from demons, not a rich man living on a turtle
You: You're so impatient. We'll be on in an hour.

You set your phone down and turn on your computer. You click on the game store widget and search for the game. You find it, luckily not too expensive. Only 2000 yen. You click purchase and wait for the game to install, getting a bite to eat before you enter.

"Link start!"
You load into a black room with nothing but the title of the game — The Manor — and a menu under it. You tap the 'friends' option and search for Akira; you tap the 'join' button. Your screen turns white for a few seconds before you emerge into what seemed like the back of a van.

"There he is," Akira said. "You were the last one. We can start now." Akira taps a button that no one else could see and the van's door proceeds to open. "It says here that it's advised to grab a flashlight and walkie-talkie. You also have a head-mounted camera on you to record evidence." You search through the van and find a shelf holding eight flashlights. One for everyone.
"Over here!" You call. Everyone picks up a flashlight and exits the van. There was nothing ahead of you but a long gravel road. "I guess we walk." You begin your trek down the path.

It's not long before a road sign appears ahead. However, instead of town names, there is a long string of text. "I'll read it!" Klein volunteers. He clears his throat and begins to recite the words in a deep raspy voice. "You and your crew are have been ordered to investigate an old house that has been uninhabited for a long time. As for why? Well, they say that the couple who used to own the house had been conducting Satanic rituals in the dead of night; sacrificing goats, rams, and any other animal they could get their hands on. Eventually, the activity in the house got so and that even the owners themselves couldn't control it. No one knows what happened to them, but one thing is for certain, no one wants to go in and find out. Those who pass by have reported seeing countless figures in the windows, lights being turned on inexplicably, and strange noises originating somewhere close by. Find the source of the occurrences and exterminate it."
