First chapter of the year (D! Woo! How is everyone? I hope you're all good. We all know 2020 was the worst year for everyone, so I just hope 2021 is being nice to you guys so far.
I know it took me a while to get this chapter out and I apologize for that. I was a bit busy with things like guitar, as I decided to pick that up recently, so I wasn't fully focused on writing. But hey, it's out now (Don't shout at me for ignoring all of January).
I think that's enough of me talking. I'll just let you all read now.
Have a good year!Your thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a knock on your door.
You stare at the door, hesitating to open it. I don't know why. I shouldn't even be scared right now... Then why am I? The knock comes through again. You get up to open the door when "Y/N? It's me, Shino." The uneasiness that had been growing on your shoulders had been lifted. You walk towards the door and pull the handle.
"Shino? What are you doing here? And how did you get here so fast?"
"I came because I thought you needed someone to talk to." She explained in a soft tone. "And what do you mean 'fast'? It's been almost two hours since we all logged off."
"Has it?" You turn your head back inside to stare at the clock on your wall. By the time you had logged off of GGO, it was around 5:30 pm. Now the clock read 7:24 pm. I must have been lost in thought for longer than I expected. "A-Anyway, do you want to come in?" You move aside, allowing Shino to enter.
"You can leave your bag there," You say, pointing at the coat rack by the door. She nods and slips her small handbag over the hook of the coatrack.
You make your way to the kitchen, Shino in tow. "My apartment's a bit smaller than yours, so sorry if it's cramped."
"It's all right." You pull out a seat at the table and allow Shino to sit down. "Thanks."
You wordlessly nod your head and slip into the seat on the opposite side of the table. "Sorry for worrying you in GGO earlier. I'm alright now, though." Shino's face had a look of concern.
"Are you sure? You're still a bit pale..." She says. You take out your phone and stare at your reflection on the blackened screen. You sigh.
"Guess there's no hiding it..." You slip your phone back into your pocket. You turn back to Shino, her face still filled with worry. "What he said... it shouldn't have shaken me this much. But it did..."
"...Do you mind telling me exactly what happened?" Shino asked. "It might take a weight off of your chest." You stay silent. You thought about what Shino had offered for a bit. Eventually, you thought that you better not. You shake your head. "Thought so..."
"Don't get mad. As I said, I don't want you to worry over this and then end up losing the BoB because of me."
"And as I said, you're just making me worry more." You sigh. You think it over again. Should I just tell her? No... I can't. Considering the way she acted when she heard of the escapees it would be bad to make her panic more. Wait...
A sudden realization hits you. You take out your phone and scroll to find the article about the laughing coffin escapees. Shinigami Suguwara. That's why that guy's name sounded familiar. You let out a groan. Now I really shouldn't tell her.
"Y/N? What is it?" Shino said.
"Nothing..." You put your phone back into your pocket again.
"Doesn't seem like nothing..." It seemed Shino was beginning to get a little irritated by how you're not answering her questions. To avoid her getting more annoyed than she needs to be you decide to change the subject.
