Missing something?

Jughead just shook his head, turning back to the oven to check on the turkey dinosaurs.

"So, um, I spoke to Archie today." Jughead started.

"Oh yeah? How is he?" She responded, reaching into the cupboard to grab a glass and fill it with water.

"He's fine." Jughead responded.

Betty felt her husband wrap his arms around her from behind.

"He mentioned something...said that you were upset. That you were crying when he came to pick Veronica up." Jughead spoke softly, kissing her shoulder gently.

"What's wrong, baby? Talk to me." Jughead whispered into her ear.

"All clean!" Eva yelled as she bounded back into the kitchen.

"Your food is gonna be ready any minute, why don't you sit up." Betty suggested, reaching into the oven to pull out the trays.

Jughead looked at Betty with worry in his eyes.

Betty served Eva's food with a kiss on her forehead.

As Betty walked back towards the kitchen, she looked sheepishly in Jughead's direction.

Jughead grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him, around the corner and away from their daughter's ears.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his forehead against hers.

"Betts..." He whispered.

"I told her about our...baby dilemma. I just overreacted." She sighed, shaking her head.

"No. Crying is not an overreaction, Betts." He whispered, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear and placing a kiss on her nose, causing her to break out in a smile.

"You know, we could have a baby, Betts. It's not impossible. Our family isn't complete yet." He spoke, being interrupted as his wife shook her head.

"Don't, Jug. It's just false hope, it's not gonna happen." She spoke as a tear rolled down her cheek as she quickly swiped it away.

"We can use all of Eva's old baby clothes, as long as you're solely breastfeeding we don't have to buy formula and we'll get gifts from people that will cover everything else." Jughead tried to persuade her.

"Jug, we can't afford it. I mean look at us, we're using candles as our light source!" She cried.

"Mommy..." Eva mumbled from behind her, her empty plate in hand.

Betty inhaled sharply, turning around to face her suddenly much younger looking daughter.

"Hi, baby. Wow, that was fast. Just like your Dad, huh?" Betty smiled, plastically, taking the little girl's plate and placing it in the sink.

She started to run the tap, dribbles of water tumbling from the nozzle when she felt a small pair of hands grasping at her leg as they clutched on for dear life.

Betty looked down, seeing the vulnerable look in her eye as she lifted her up and clutched her close to her chest, looking over at Jughead with a sad smile.

"Are you okay, Mom?" She mumbled quietly into her shoulder.

"Oh, of course I am, sweetie. I'm just being silly." She spoke, trying to ease her daughter's worries.

"Were you shouting at Daddy? Did he do something wrong?" She interrogated.

"Well, I was a little bit." Betty giggled.

"But he didn't do anything wrong, Mommy's just had a long day and I'm taking it out on Dad when I shouldn't be." Betty said.

"Okay." She smiled, seemingly satisfied with her mother's answer.
