66. Sasuke Didn't Marry Sakura Just to Shut Her Up

Some fans have claimed that Sasuke only married Sakura because she was so persistent and he just wanted to shut her up once and for all, so he married her. I'm confused how fans think that marrying someone would get them to leave you alone. Marrying someone means that you have to be more involved with them, not less. If Sasuke disliked Sakura, then he wouldn't marry her to put a stop to her advances, because Sasuke isn't stupid and knows that marrying Sakura is only encouraging the relationship, not shutting it down.

SasuSaku-antis have a pretty skewered idea of who Sasuke is if they actually think he'd be intimate with someone he doesn't even like. Sasuke is extremely stubborn and not nearly so tame as SasuSaku critics seem to think. Sasuke never does anything until Sasuke decides for himself, on his own terms, that he actually wants to do it. Sasuke is super independent-minded and even masters of manipulation like Orochimaru and Obito soon found that they couldn't control Sasuke (there's a reason why Obito acknowledged Sasuke as a wild card in his master plan and gave him more leeway and freedom than he did the rest of the Akatsuki members). It's also why Sasuke rejected Naruto's advances of friendship again and again until Sasuke, on his terms, decided he wanted to further the friendship with Naruto. Same thing with the many girls fawning over Sasuke. Sasuke spent his entire childhood (like 12 years of his life) fending off the swarms of fangirls by being clear he wasn't interested. Stubborn as Sasuke is, do fans really think he would really have a problem holding fangirls at bay for another 12 years? Especially since he's outside the village nearly all the time, it's not like he'd risk being pestered by Sakura all the time. Sasuke could easily avoid her if he wished. But obviously he doesn't want to avoid her since he chose to get very involved with Sakura by marrying her. Sasuke sticks with his convictions/goals/beliefs and will not budge an inch until he's genuinely and truly convinced that he wants to (or needs to), on his terms.

Besides, Sakura would be mature enough to accept if Sasuke didn't want to continue their relationship, which is why she shyly asks if she can journey with him before he leaves Konoha at the end of Shippuden: she knows Sasuke can turn her down if he wishes and that she'll have to respect that. If Sasuke didn't return her affections, she'd be like Karin: she'd still love Sasuke, but she'd respect his decisions and wants and she'd be happy so long as he was happy.
