"Okay, so, there are seven players, three Forward that try to score goals; two Defenders who wanne keep the Forwards from their enemy away from the goal; the Goalie that is the last line of defense inside the goal and the Dragoneer, who fires red things at every person who gets inside their Kill Zone."
I shook my head, zoning back into the present, blinking a few times as I looked at my friend who had just repeated something back to me. "Uh... yeah, yes, exactly, Ray. You got it."
"Hell yeah, bro!" The firefly flew a salto, ending with is arms spread out on the air to show his pride in his small victory.
A smile took over my face as Ray's joy reflected on me. "Great! Than we can watch the rest of the game!"
Explaining the rules and ins and outs of the game had taken a lot longer than I anticipated, there only were a few minutes left. No, even worse, the announcer, Mr. Porter, just announced that we had already entered the last 47 seconds. A little disappointed I turned my attention back to the field.
"He is bringing that hothead Jay in from the Isle of the Lost and that little guy Carlos who can barely hold a shield." I cheered along with the rest, following the two new members of the team while they joined the rest in the huddle. Seeing my old teammates standing their while I could do nothing else but watch filled me with a mixture of loss and loneliness of not being able to be a part of it any longer. Or for anything for that matter.
Apparently my shift in mood got noticed by my companion, because Ray spoke with a hint of consurn. "You okay, Buddy?"
Quickly I shook off the feeling, smiling at Ray, "Yeah, yeah I am good. Just, this game is getting really tense."
Ray smiled back, his crooked teeth showing as he turned his attention back to the field as well. "You know it!"
The huddle was over and the players of the two teams took their places on the field. "This is gonna be a big moment." The Announcer continued, "And the tippoff is ready." Aggie blew the whistle and everyone sprung to action. The ball shot into the air, Jay got to it before the Falcon's could get to it and he immediately passed it on to Emir.
Emir had been on the team with me for most of our time at school and he had taken the position of Left/Right Forward. Honestly I couldn't have thought of a better replacement,  and I am sure Aggie knew this too.
"Nice little block by Carlos." Mr. Porter continued after Carlos used his size to his advantage and basically tripped his opponent, making him tumble over him and falling on his back on the other side. "He does a little dancing jig in the opponent's face." I couldn't help but laugh at that and I could see the amusement on the faces of my sister and her best friend as well.
Emma! I hadn't notice her arrive or see her join Aggie's side while me and Ray were talking. But there she was, seemingly more invested in the game than I had ever seen her before. Although that might be because I'd never really watched her, seeing I always had been occupied by leading our team.
"And now Jay has the ball back. Here comes Jay!" The guy ran straight onto the Death Zone, jumping out of the way of Dragon Fire that the Falcon's Dragoneer shot at him. "Jay, hurdling maneuver at mid-field." Mr. Porter's voice became ever so slightly louder and more enthusiastic with the turn of events. His passion for the game always sounding through his commentary.
"Jay makes a nice pass to Emir through the Kill Zone." Immediately one of the Falcon's defenders bolted for Emir, but Chad wouldn't have it. "Big block by Chad!"
"Yeah Chad!" I exclaimed, forgetting they couldn't hear me at all.
"Emir moves over wide, gives it back to Jay." The ball flew over the field and Jay caught it perfectly. "He's in the clear! Shot!" Jay hauld the ball towards the goal, but the Falcon's Goalie jumped in front of it. "Oh! What a save by Phil, the Falcon's goalkeeper!"
"No!" I pulled my hands though my hair, "that was so close!"
"Only 21 second left! You could cut the tension with a sword."
"You could say that again." Ray commented on Mr. Porter's words, biting his nails.
"The long ball is played into Jay." A Falcon ran to him, trying to intersect the ball but Jay jumped, catching it and maneuvering himself around the guy until he could run away with the ball. Again, a falcon goes with the intention of tackling Jay, but before he could Chad again comes to the resque, slamming his entire body into the other guy, making them both fall to the ground. "Big block from Chad."
"Jay dished off to Emir." This time when one of the Falcon's come for the ball it is Carlos who tackles him to the ground. "And then Carlos with a big block, goes down. Jay, through the Killzone picks up Carlos. He's being hammered by Dragon Fire." And indeed they were, but both of them managed to hide behind Carlos's shield as they ran to the other side. An opponents attack split them up, the ball getting thrown into the air.
"The ball goes back to Jay." Then they did something unexpected. Jay threw the ball at Carlos who stood in front of him between him and the goal. Carlos makes the ball ricochet off of his shield into the air before he ducks to give Jay the space to jump over him and not loose speed.
Jay catches the ball in midair, immediately playing it to Emir, who shoots-
"He scores!" Porter yells into the microphone. Cheers erupt from players and audience alike.
"The Auradon Knights have won!" Porter continued, his voice still audibe over the noice through the speakers. "What an unselfish play by Jay! What a Team! Incredible! And it's the new guys, Jay and Carlos, who set up Emir for the winner. What a victory! An absolutely wonderful end to one of the best games ever!"
I couldn't contain my pure enthusiasm as I jumped in the air much like the winning players and other supporters. They won! I couldn't believe it, they had actually won! The crowd was cheering and jumping around. The cheerleaders the most, shaking their pom-poms, doing cartwheels and other complicated stunts I never knew the names of and honestly did not care to.
Emma was in the front of the crowd, running to Aggie to hug her tight, both cheering on their team.
"Here they come." Mr. Porter spoke while the Knight's ran to the front to receave their well earned trophie. "The winners of the first-"
In the chaos of victory I barely was able to see Emma go for the microphone. Maybe it was wrong of me to get worried. But Emma, my little sister who hates public speaking, my Kathy, was heading straight for the microphone with a big smile on her face and... and is that excitement?
Not only did she go straight for the Microphone she pulled it from Mr. Porter's hands, who stared at her in shock, but did not say anything seeing who it was that had stolen his microphone.
"Excuse me." She spoke into it. "Can I have your attention please!" The crowd died down, curiosity coming over everyone as the stared at my sister. Including me and Aggie, neither of us knowing what to do or how to react. "There is something I would like to say." Silence as she looked around herself, probably realizing what she had just started and how many people were now staring at her. I was prepared to run after her when she inevitably would do so herself.
But she didn't. Instead she jumped on top of the big block that served as the pedestal of the Dragon fire canon.
"Give me an M!" Emma exclaimed.
The entire crowd complied immediately, shouting "M!" Back at her, the cheerleader squad that stood around her together with the Tourney team made a letter M with their arms, imitating her.
"What is she doing?" I wondered out loud, walking closer to the crowd of people. Unlike the others who mostly seemed hyped that their Princess was participating so openly, I couldn't help the anxious feeling inside my stomach.
"Give me an A!" Emma continued, and the crowd did as well, curious to where this all was going.
I joined Aggie's side, who's face, much like mine, held a rather confused expression and did not join in the chant.
"Give me an L!" Everyone excitedly shouted back. "What does that spell?" A big grin stood on Kathy's face as her eyes seemed focused on one point in the crowd where a particular girl stood with purple hair.
     "MAL!" The crows yelled.
"I can't hear you!" Kathy yelled back, turning the microphone to crowd, on which everyone yelled back "Mal"even louder.
Emma moved the microphone back to her mouth, "I love you Mal, did I mention that?"
"What?" My voice got echoad by Aggie's who exclaimed the word, almost dropping the clipboard she held in her hands. All we could do was stare at my sister while a wave of surprised and delighted yells and whoops went through the entire crowd, completely drowning us out.
Emma signed to the school band, who immediately started to play, Emma moved her leg on the rhythm and then did something else I had never seen her do in front of an audience. She began to sing.
"Did I mention, that I'm in love with you?
And did I mention, that there's nothing I can do?"
And did I happen to say?
     I dream of you everyday?
But let me shout it out loud, if that's okay-ay-ay!" Emma sang loud and clear, jumping of the canon with everyone's eyes on her. But her eyes were only on Mal. "If that's okay."
"What in the hells does she think she's doing?" Aggie's voice sounded high pitched and filled with disbelief from beside me.
"I have no idea." I answered, knowing she couldn't hear me.
"I met this girl that rocked my world like it's never been rocked." Emma acted like she was playing the air guitar, giving it one last sweep and letting her right hand stand in the air, her head down in one of those typical rockstar poses.
"And now I'm living just for her and I won't ever stop." As she sang she looked up again, her loose hair sweeping over her shoulder.
"I never thought that it could happen to a girl like me,
But now look at what you've done you got me down on my knees." Low and behold, my sister actually let herself drop to her knees, one hand on her heart and the other outstrechted to the young woman on the bleachers.
"Because my love for you is ridiculous!" As she sang the word ridiculous, Jay and Carlos who had walked up to her both took one of her hands and pulled her off the ground. Her dress sweeping up a little underneath her as she landed.
     "I never knew-"
"Who knew?" Carlos and Jay sung into the mic from beside her before crossing their paths in front of her, coming to stand beside her on opposite sides.
"-that it could be like this?
My love for you is ridiculous!
My love is R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!" Em actually spelled the word out and after she did, the chearleading squid formed the letters again with their arms while the rest repeated their princess and spelled the word.
"It's-" Kathy sang into the microphone, turning it to her audience who immediately all sung "Ridiculous!"
Emma braught the mic back to herself, "Just-" And back to the crowd it went, who knew what to do.
     "Ridiculous!"
"And I would give my Kingdom for just one kiss."
I stood with open mouth just staring at the scene unwrapping in front of me. And I wasn't the only one. Aggie still stood beside me, her eyes wide, the look of confusion now also mixed with disgust. "This whole thing is ridiculous!" She exclaimed. I, again, the only one hearing her words, the rest to distracted with everything.
"Well did I mention, that I'm in love with you?" Emma put the microphone back in it's standard, that was almost the same heights as her, and leaned forward, still looking up at the crowd, holding the standard in her hands.
"And did I mention, there's nothing I can do?
And did I happen to say,
I dream of you every day?
Well, let me shout it out loud, if that's okay-hey-hey."
Kathy now did the complete opposite, where she let herself lean back, almost falling to the ground but holding herself up with the Microphone and it's standard that now stood steadily on the ground. "Yeah! If that's okay!"
I watched as she pulled herself up, taking the mic from it's holder once again and started singing, jumping on the music, the Tourney team jumping in sink with her one step behind. "I gotta know which way to go,
come on, give me a sign.
You gotta show me that you're only ever gonna be mine.
Don't wanne go another minute living without you.
'Cause if you're heart just isn't in it,
I don't know what I'd do." With those words, Emma let herself fall backwards, where the Tourney team caught her and launched her up into the sky, landing back on her feet a meter further and continuing to sing.
"Because my love for you is ridiculous!" The audience now sang along with the word Ridiculous!
      I never knew-"
"Who knew?" Both the Cheerleaders and the Tourney players sang.
"That it could be like this!
      My love for you is-"
      "Ridiculous!"
     "My love is r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s."
"R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S" Everyone spelled it out again using their voices and bodies.
"It's-" Kathy turned the mic to the crowd.
     "Ridiculous!"
Back to herself, she sang: "Just-" And she turned it back to the audience waiting for them to continue.
     "Ridiculous!"
"And I would give my kingdom for just one kiss,
      Come on now!"
The music continued as Kathy broke out in an elaborate dance, the cheerleaders making pyramids behind her, jumping off and around. The entire school and the Falcon's now as well swinging along with everything. I turned to Ray who was also dancing along, not even slightly noticing my distress. The only one who shared my state was Aggie, who was pulling her hand through her hair letting out puffs of frustration. "This can not be happenin'," she mumbled. "What even is happenin'!" She spoke louder.
     "You tell me!"
"All right!" My attention got pulled back to my sister as she pulled off her blazer and throwing it to the side so now it was revealed she was actually wearing a skirt and nothing more than a skin tight crop top. Ow no, I did not like this at all.
"Because my love for you is ridiculous." Every time without fail the crowd timed their ridiculous with hers, this time was no exception.
     "I never knew-"
     "Who knew?"
"That it could be like this?" Our Knight mascot now came running up the field, leading the mascot horse to Emma, who took the opportunity to jump on their back and continued singing while the mascots brought her towards the bleachers.
"My love for you is ridiculous.
My love is r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s." While she was spelling the word, she dropped down from the horse into the arms of Jay, Carlos and Emir, who helped her stand up in their hands and as everyone else spelled ridiculous they launched her onto the bleachers where the rest of the Auradon students caught her.
     "It's-"
"Rediculous!" She was now crowdsurfing towards Mal. Crowdsurfing!
     "Just-"
     "Ridiculous!"
"And I would give my kingdom for just one kiss,
Come on, now." Cheers erupted from everywhere as Kathy stood right in front of Mal the moment the last trumpets sounded. She was slightly out of breath but her face was beaming in delight. In that moment I could see Em reaching to cup Mal's face in her hand, before she could do anything else Mal took her hand in hers, twirled Kathy around and caught her in an somewhat awkward side hug.
"I love you, Mal. Did I mention that?" Another round of cheers erupted from the crowd after Emma's words. I couldn't quite make out Mal's face, but Evie who stood beside her looked delighted.
After the cheers died down a little Emma spoke into the microphone again. "Mal, will you go to the coronation with me?"
For the first time Mal took the microphone and I could also see the smile on her face, "Yes!"
"She said yes!" Kathy exclaimed into the golden microphone. The cheers were overwhelming and the people jumping around made it hard for me to keep an eye on my sister and Maleficent's daughter. Who I could see really well though, was my sister's best friend.
Aggie stared at the bleachers with an iron glare. Seeing Aggie angry was not a particular rare sight, but even so I had never seen her like this. She stood almost unmoving as she spoke with clenched fist and a set jaw..
     "What. The. Fuck."
