"Emma?" You said, trying to catch your breath. The three of you stood there in the hallway staring at each other in silence, aside from Mikey's and your's heavy breathing. The silence last what seemed like forever before Mikey spoke up. "I think I'm gonna head out." He said as he adjusted his jacket. "Mikey." Emma said sternly as he stopped next to his sister. They locked eyes in a stare down, no words. It felt like they were having a conversation without actually speaking as you watched them. Finally they broke eye contact. Mikey continued down the stairs, leaving Emma to turn her stern gaze at you. You could feel your face turn red, ashamed that she had walked in on not just one of her best friends but her brother as well. You shifted your gaze to the floor, intensely studying every spec of dust on the wood. Emma let out a soft sigh before turning around and heading back down the stairs. You quickly reached for your door handle, throwing yourself inside as it opened. You needed to hide for a few minutes before you could show your face.
After changing your clothes into a pair of comfy sweats and a tshirt and washing the makeup from the day off your face, you sprawled across your bed. Your head spinning from the events a few moments prior. The scene of you and Mikey replaying through your head. The look on Emma's face. You buried your face in your pillow in a poor attempt to suffocate the memory. 'What is wrong with you? You never act like this.' You thought to yourself. It was true, this was out of character. You were never the type to be riding off with a man you had just met at a club a few days prior and then almost hooking up with him. Regardless if he was your best friend's brother, he was still a stranger technically. He did something to you and you weren't sure what it was but it was exhilarating. A soft chime came from your phone. You lifted your head from the pillow, met with the glow of the phone screen. You grabbed it and unlocked it to access the message, the bright light illuminating the now dark room. It was Mimi. "You're going to have to come down. She'll be actually mad if you ignore her and miss dinner. Plus if you want to eat you got to help." The message read. You groaned at the thought of having to face Emma. Mimi was right though, you couldn't hide in your room forever. You slowly lifted yourself from the bed and made your way to the door.
You exited your room. You could hear pots clanging downstairs as you reached the top of the stairs. You slowly started the journey to the bottom, a feeling of dread intensifying with each step as you got closer and closer to the bottom. You were met by Emma and Mimi in the kitchen, ingredients and pans spread across the counters. You walked to the kitchen island and took at seat at one of the barstools located beside it. You kept your gaze down, looking at the marble on the top of the island. There was a long silence that filled the room. Everyone waiting for the other to say something. "Y/N." Emma broke the silence. You slowly lifted your head to look at Emma. The stern look was gone thankfully, replaced with what looked like concern. "I'm not mad at you if that's what your worried about." She assured you. "You're not?" That's the one thing you were scared of and her confirmation made you feel so much better. "No, why would I be?" She said. "Because he is your brother!" You blurted out. "Y/N, I don't care if he is my brother. What he does is none of my business. If it was Draken then there would be reason for me to be mad. I'm just...worried." She said, her voice trailing off at the end. She looked at you with a soft gaze as you waited for an explanation. She sighed "Mikey is not the type to be in anything serious. He gets what he wants and that's all. I just don't want him to do that to you. I love my brother but that doesn't mean I condone his actions especially when it comes to my friends. I just want you to be careful and don't start catching feelings because there is a huge chance he is gonna hurt you if you do." There was an almost sadness in her voice. "Em, I'm not ready for a relationship after last time. So don't worry about me getting my feelings hurt. And this was not planned I promise." You said trying to reassure her there would be no blossoming relationship between you and her brother. "Yeah, last time really messed with you. I'll take your word for it though......but.......If you are gonna do anything though do it behind closed doors! I don't want to walk in on you with my brothers hand in your cookie jar!!" She laughed sending you and Mimi into a fit of laughter that filled the once eerie silence of the kitchen with sounds of joy. "I prefer the term diddling the skittles." Mimi finally chimed in with laughter. "There was no 'diddling' about it. Hand puppet is waaay more accurate." Emma added as the Laughing intensified. "Stoooop!" You whined, your stomach becoming weak from all the laughing. "Hand puppet!! I'm calling you lamb chop from now on" Mimi said. "I said it wasn't planned!!!" You shouted in between laughs. "Whatever." Emma rolled her eyes as she wiped tears away. "Definitely not something I thought I would hear coming from you miss. Are we turning over a new leaf?" Mimi chuckled, heating up some water on the stove top. The laughing finally started to die down and you all began to catch your breaths. "Now that that's taken care of, get to work so we can get dinner done." Mimi said as she tossed an onion to you to start chopping.
(Note: I hope y'all got the lamb chop reference. Lol)
