___________________________________I was early the next afternoon.
So what if I was early? It didn't mean anything.
It means you're desperate for dick.
I hated that I couldn't argue with the fact.
Holding my breath, I approached the front desk of the club and sighed in relief as I saw Cora working there. "Hey." I smiled as I made my way up to her.
Cora looked up for the computer and returned a genuine smile, as if she was actually happy to see me. "Hey. Good to see you again."
"You too. Hey, I know this might seem a bit weird but what shifts do you have?" I couldn't help but asked.
She chuckled, "Thinking of joining the receptionist team?" she asked rhetorically. "It depends really. Whatever shifts my mom gives me and I'm able to make considering I'm a Junior in college." She was only a year younger than me which made me feel a little better. I mean, of course she would be college-age because what high school student was allowed to work at a BDSM club?
"Your mom?"
She cringed slightly, "My mom's Laura – the owner of this place. I know, pretty weird to have a mom running a club/sex dungeon and if it makes you feel any better, it is definitely not a dinner table topic at home."
I laughed, "No judgement here." I lifted my hands up in defence. "Must have been an... interesting childhood."
"Oh please!" Cora waved a hand, "I only found out about it when I was sixteen. Some girls turn sixteen and get a car or a long-lost grandmother shows up, announcing they are the long-lost princess of some remote island. I got the, 'Hey, kiddo. By the way, mamma runs a sex club.'"
I had to place a hand over my mouth to stop myself from giggling too loudly. "Please tell me that's exactly how she said it."
"Oh yes! Birthday pancakes and all!"
This time, I laughed even harder, and Cora did too. That was when I realised how long it had been since I'd laughed with a girl around my age as mere strangers. Although, I didn't really want Cora to be a mere stranger in my life. With only just minutes of talking to her she already had this fun, positive energy surrounding her that made her easy to love without a doubt.
Despite that, asking your sex club receptionist to hangout was probably the weirdest thing ever and most likely broke some kind of violation of the club. I'd have to ask Knowles about it.
"What college do you attend?"
"Barnard." She replied. Barnard was linked with Columbia, so it surprised me I hadn't seen her before. Then again, Manhattan was huge and insanely busy, and I wasn't much of a socialiser. "I study Environmental Science."
"That's so cool!" I remarked. I didn't know what that was.
"You don't know what that is, do you?" Cora read me like a book.
"No." I admitted sheepishly. "But it sounds cool."
"It's alright." She shrugged. I wanted to ask her more questions, but her phone rang, and she answered it before I could even begin. "Hello?... okay... sure... be right there." She hung up and sighed. "Sorry, my mom wants me to do some email-thingy, so I've got to get back to work."
The distaste on her face was evident to someone miles away. "That's okay." My eyes wandered to the time. Oh shit. "My, um, session starts now so I should go."
