"Oh my God, she is such a bitch!"

   "I know."

"Like who does she think she is?"

   "A bitch apparently."

I looked over at Heather and we both broke out laughing. "You've gotten me so invested in this storyline." I confessed as we watched whatever number episode we were on in Downtown Abbey.

Who knew rich English people living in the 1910s could be so fun to watch?

"I'm glad." She grinned. "Go get some coffee, hon. We've been watching for a while."

"I'm okay." I shrugged. "D'you want any more water?"

   "I'm good." She smiled.

I focused back on the TV, noticing that my presence had lifted Heather's mood up a bit. It felt relieving that I was helping Christopher's family in some kind of way even though I was enjoying Heather's company too much to feel like an aid.

Knowles wasn't here when his dad opened the door to let me in this morning. Apparently, he had to run some errands and drive his dad to work so, for now, it was just me and Heather enjoying Downton Abbey on a Saturday afternoon.

As I leaned back into the couch, the noise of the front door closing caught our attention and Heather paused the TV. The lounge door pushed open, and Knowles popped his head through.

   "Everything okay here?"

Heather smiled, "Everything is wonderful. How's the roads?" thankfully, the snow was calming down. The weather was still criminally freezing but at least the ground wasn't smothered or icy.

"Good." He answered. "D'you need more water?"

His mom shook her head, "No. Rya's got me covered if I do."

   "D'you –"

"Don't you have college work to do?" she cut him off, raising an eyebrow. I could tell she was tired of his doting despite it being out of concern. Yet, it was nice to know Heather trusted me enough to rely on me a little.

It also took the weight off her son a little too.

Chris chuckled and raised his hands in defence, "I was only checking."

"Well, go check your college work first please. As I said, Rya's got me covered." She smiled over at me then at her son.

Christopher's eyes met mine for a split second and I felt my heart lift because the look he gave me was of reassurance. He trusted me with his mom and that gave him the space to focus on himself for a second.

I would be lying when saying I wasn't worried about his college work. I was worried about him in general, but his schoolwork did cross my mind. He was a smart guy but with the weight of two jobs and his mother's condition, I wouldn't blame him if he let his education slip on the priority list.

"Okay." He smiled softly at me and then to his mom. "I'll be upstairs. The nurse comes in an hour with the councillor."

Heather glanced at me, "I think that hour means another episode."

I grinned back at her, "Oh, absolutely. I want more drama."

Chris's laugh caught my attention, "I'll leave you two to it then." He closed the door and the echoes of his footsteps up the stairs followed.

I faced the TV once more, expecting another episode to load when Heather spoke, "He changes when you're around."

That caught me off guard, "What d'you mean?"
