The power came back on five minutes later. Typical. But I wasn't worried about that because after begging Ezekiel to let me use his laptop, I was typing away like my life depended on it.

My heart was still racing, my hands were still trembling, and my head pounded but I needed to get this essay done.

I was done being a mess, I needed to pull myself together and get it done. I couldn't fail. I wouldn't fail. I would keep going even if my fingertips bled by the end of it.

"Rya, I think you need some water?" Leah warily came over, placing a glass of water on the counter. I felt so bad that she heard my little panic. She needed to be back in her room studying for her interview.

"I'm okay." I barely looked up and kept typing.

"You don't look okay." She said but I ignored her.

If I looked over to the couch, I would find Sienna, Ezekiel and Taylor there staring at me in concern. They didn't need to be concerned. I had it under control.

"I thought you called him?" I heard Ezekiel whisper to Sienna.

"I did. There's probably insane traffic right now, remember." She replied.

He sighed, "Well, what did you say?"

"I don't know!" she hissed. "Oh, hey Christopher, I know you're supposed to hate Rya's guts and she hates yours, but can you come over because she's having a panic attack."

"And what did he say?"

"He said he'll be right there." She paused for a second. "Why Christopher? What's going on with Christopher?"

"I... Well... Don't worry about it." Ezekiel stuttered.

Sienna huffed, "I'm her best friend. I'm sure as hell going to worry about it."

Guilt tripped in my stomach. I didn't want her to worry. I didn't want anyone to worry. I had it handled. If I could just finish this essay, I could show them.

"Let Rya tell you about it." Taylor said to Sienna.

"Tell me about what. What the hell is going on and why do you seem like you know too?" she snappily whispered.

I didn't have time for this. I stopped focussing on their conversation and quickly read through my paragraph. No, there was no time to read it through, I could do that later. I just needed to keep typing.

I was so engrossed; I barely registered the loud knocking at the door and Leah rush over to open it.

"Hey." Leah said, "Sienna said she called you, but we didn't know how bad the traffic was."

"Yeah, where's Rya?" Christopher voice was rushed but also out of breath. Christopher. I forgot I asked Sienna to call him. God, how was I so stupid? I didn't need him, I could fix this on my own.

"In the kitchen." Was all Leah said.

Why did I ask Sienna to call him? I was such an idiot. I had this handled. I didn't need his help, not anymore. I focused back on my screen.

"Rya?" his voice came by my side. "What are you doing?"

I didn't look at him. "Writing my essay."

His voice remained calm as he came closer, "What's the essay about?"

"I already told you." I rushed the words out, not having time for this.

There was a long stretch of silence. "Sienna called me and told me what happened."

"It's fine."
