Adrenaline fills my whole body as we roam the halls, following where Teresa leads us. She takes us to an elevator as the stress presses onto me more and more. The elevator doors finally open, and we all step in.

I stand between Newt and Thomas as Teresa stands in front of us. Okay. We made it here, now we just have to make it through the next floor without being caught and-

A hand slips through the crack in the middle of the doors just as they were about to close. The doors open, and Janson slips through. I feel myself enrage at the sight of him. We haven't seen him in person since they attacked the Right Arm.

Rat Man always knows how to mess things up, huh?

The man steps into the elevator besides Teresa as he presses his floor number, causing the doors to close once more. I can just feel the awkwardness between Janson and Teresa as they stand side by side, their gazes fixated forwards.

"You're working late," Janson notes. "See that's what I like about you, Teresa. No matter how rough things get, you just never give up. It's times like this when you need a friend you can count on."

I feel myself tense as my grip on my gun tightens. He's onto us. There's no way he's not. That wording just sounds too specific, man. I mentally kick myself for thinking we could get this to work.

"There is one thing you should know," he tells the girl. "One friend to another... Thomas is here." Teresa turns her gaze to the man as they make eye contact before he breaks it. "Surveillance picked him up outside the walls. Ava didn't want to let you know as there's a chance that he might contact you. But if he does... I'd like to think that I'd be your first call."

Screw this. He's definitely onto us. He knows we're not just random soldiers escorting her everywhere. We are so screwed.

"Are you going to kill him," the girl asks him, shakiness in her voice.

"Would that be a problem?" He asks her, his usual cocky tone present in his voice. It sends anger up my spine.

Suddenly, the elevator beeps as the doors open.

"This is me," Teresa states as she walks out the door, not giving him another glance. The three of us awkwardly pile out the door, walking past Janson. Thomas makes it a point to shoulder check Rat Man, and I make a mental note to scold the boy once we're out of hearing proximity.

Walking through the halls, I kick the back of Thomas's calf, causing him to trip over. He catches his footing again before glancing back at me. "What the heck was that for, Clementine?"

"Quit letting your emotions blind you and allow you to be so reckless," I whisper shout at the boy. "It's obvious he's already onto us and you just made it all the more obvious."

"Yeah, well I'm sorry he was being a-"

"No. None of that Thomas. Focus on getting Minho out of here. Do you understand me? Before I beat your shuck face up myself."

"Yes ma'am," he mumbles as he continues walking along.

I slow down, letting Teresa walk in front of me so I can walk beside Newt. "How are you holding up?"

"I'm fine, Clem," he assures me.

"You guys really don't understand," Teresa tells us all. "Getting all that serum won't save Newt. It'll buy him some time but-"

Newt cuts her off by grabbing ahold of her arm and pushing her forward. "Don't listen to her. She's just trying to get into your heads."

Despite his warning, Teresa continues to babble on. I really don't understand why she's still going on about this. She has my blood. She can make a cure with that for Newt. So why is she so fixated on getting Thomas's too? Does she not believe me?"

Thomas ignores the girl as we arrive at a door. "Open it."

"Just let me run some tests," Teresa begs. "I promise I can protect you.

We walk through the doors and Thomas pulls off his helmet, glaring at the girl.

"What are you doing," I lecture the boy. "You're going to get us caught! Get that freaking thing back on your head-"

But the boy ignores me, getting up into Teresa's face. "Yeah? Like you protected Minho? How many lives is it gonna take? How many more people are they gonna have to round up? Torture? Kill? When does it stop?" His words send chills down my spine. Torture. Kill.

W.C.K.D. doesn't care about how much is lost. They have tunnel vision, their eyes set on something that seems close to impossible. But they continue to keep at it anyways, and it's ridiculous.

"It stops when we find a cure," Teresa states sternly.

"There is no cure, Teresa!" He shouts at the girl.

I pull him back, "Thomas shut your shuck-face up! Shut up! What do you think you're doing for us by revealing your identity and raising your voice? Huh?"

"Don't waste your breath, Teresa," a familiar nasal voice speaks. We turn our attention to the path in front of us, as Janson walks towards us with a gun pointed in our direction. We all pull up our weapons, pointing them at the man as more soldiers show up behind up. "He made his choice long ago."

Once noticing the soldiers gathering around to stop us, Thomas grabs ahold of Teresa and points his pistol at the girl's head. "Back up! Tell them to back off!"

"Come on, Thomas, it's me," Janson tells the boy. "And from what I can remember... you're not gonna shoot her."

"You don't think so?"

"Okay, go on then," he persuades the boy as he lowers his gun. "Do it. Kill her."

Suddenly, Teresa pushes us all back into the long hall as she pulls a fire alarm down. The doors close in front of us before we can reach it. Janson starts shooting at the glass, creating cracks in the clear door.

I pull my helmet off, throwing it to the floor as I take a glance at Rat Man. Newt follows suit, before the three of us all rush down the hall.

We get looks as we enter the more populated area of the link, all the doctors staring at us and wondering why some random teenagers dressed as W.C.K.D. soldiers are roaming the halls.

It feels like ages pass as we walk around, when in reality it was only about fifteen-ish minutes. Suddenly, we notice men running down the corridors, looking for us. My instincts kick in as I rush into the nearest room, only to realize that Thomas and Newt didn't follow. I fight the urge inside me to go back and look for them as I close the door, locking it behind me. They're not stupid enough to get caught. They found a hiding spot, everything's gonna be okay. I'll meet up with them soon.

I take a deep breath as I turn to look around the room, wanting to find anything that would be useful to me. But instead, all I see are big computer screens. Surprisingly, the room is empty and holds no other visitors.

I walk over to a big screen that sort of looks like a huge hologram. A handprint sits in the middle, the rest of the screen filled with white. Curiosity filling me up to my core, I place my hand over it, causing the whole screen to turn black.

Suddenly, the screen turns to white again, before fading into a scene. The shot is taken from what seems to be a camera attached to a wall. It showcases a video of three kids in a small room. The room looks like a little playing area, with toys and other play-things scattered around.

Three kids sit in the middle of the room in a little circle, playing with little toy cars. There's two boys and one girl, they all look to be around ten or eleven. One of the boys has blonde hair while the other has dark brown hair.

The girl tosses the car to the side, obviously looking bored. "This is so stupid." She flips her braid off her shoulder, allowing it to rest against her back. And that's when I see it:

The long scar stretching along the right side of her neck.

That's me.
