Happy Endings... - Newt x Reader | Book 3

I somehow make it to the room without being caught. Bursting through the door, my eyes land on the two boys hiding behind a small wall near the glass. I rush over to them as their eyes dart to me.

"Are you guys okay," I ask them.

"Yeah, we're fine," Thomas answers. "Where'd you go?"

"Ran into a room when I saw the soldiers," I explain. "I saw some... interesting stuff."

Before Thomas can ask another question, I turn my gaze to Newt. He looks even worse than before and his skin is growing pale. I take the gloves from the suit off, revealing my fingers and my covered palms from the arm sleeves. 

Newt looks into my eyes as I reach my hands up to his cheeks. "We're almost out of here Newt. Just hang in there a little longer."

"I'm okay, Clementine," he assures me. But everything about his physical state goes against that.

Ignoring it, I help the boy up as Thomas follows suit. We exit the room and continue roaming around the place, trying to find Minho. Suddenly, Thomas stops at an intersection, his gaze fixated on something down the hall. Newt and I walk back to him, noticing exactly what he was looking at.

Ava Paige.

Thomas pulls out his pistol and points it directly at the woman. Suddenly, I feel my body be pushed down a different hall along with the brunette.

"Thomas, no," Newt shouts as he pulls us further down the hall. I turn around and notice Janson following us as he shoots, soldiers following behind him. We take cover, pointing our guns as we turn every corner. As people notice this, they all scatter and run in the opposite direction.

Some soldiers find where we are and start shooting at us. We shoot our guns at them as we rush down another corridor, shouting out for Minho. Shouts are heard from every direction as people run and scream.

The soldiers chase us and eventually, we're surrounded. Newt and I shoot at the soldiers coming from the hall behind us as more start to appear ahead of us.

"Get down, get down," Thomas orders as we take cover once more in the small hallway behind us. The brunette peaks the corner and shoots at the guy as Newt rushes towards one of the stunned men. He rummages through his gear before coming across some sort of device.

"What is that," I ask the boy.

"Something," he answers as he activates it and pulls me back, tossing it towards the men shooting at us. Several rapid beeps are heard before it explodes, knocking all the men out.

I look at the boy with a smile as I lightly chuckle. "Nice job, loverboy."

"Thank you, love. Now let's go," he urges. We all rush down the same hall before getting stopped by another soldier. His gun was already pointed at us as he shouts, telling us to freeze. Our guns aren't in our hands so reaching for them would cause us to automatically get shot. Newt steps in front of me, holding his arm out to shield me.

He continues to yell at us, but suddenly, a figure comes rushing through and attacks the soldier. Pinning him against the wall and throwing him through a window as he shouts.

I feel so many emotions run through me as I realize who the mystery figure is. We just stare at him in shock, watching as he turns his gaze to us.

I'm the first to get my senses back as I run over to the boy, practically throwing my body at him as I hug him. "Minho!"

Newt and Thomas immediately follow suit, running over and squishing me as they hug the boy as well, pulling the four of us into a little group hug. Words cannot express how happy I am, and I can't get myself to stop smiling.
