Chapter 25

Small laughs and chuckles are heard from around the room in remembrance as he continues. "Clementine, Newt didn't want to admit it a lot, but all those feelings clicked back as soon as he saw you in that small box. He never stopped loving you, despite the memory loss and all. And he would rant and rant to me while we were in the Glade because this shuck-face here, didn't want to profess his love to you because he was scared."

"Oi," Newt calls out from beside me. "That isn't close to the bloody truth!"

Minho laughs, gaining a laugh from everyone else too. "Alright, alright. He wasn't scared. He just was nervous about messing up and didn't know if you reciprocated those feelings. But clearly, you do."

He takes some steps towards us, now standing just a few feet from our table. "Clementine, Newt. You two have been and will continue to be my best friends. I love you both tons, even if I don't say it a lot. My whole life—or the life I can remember—has been amazing because of the memories I've made with you. A lot of those memories are from teasing you guys or making fun of you until you finally made it official. Or hearing both sides of the story when you guys are so clearly in love with each other. There'd be days in the Glade when Clem would rant to me while on runs in the Maze about Newt, saying all this stuff which made it so clear that she liked him. And then literally, later that day, I'd hear the same klunk from Newt when getting ready for bed or doing errands around the Glade. Anyway, I'm just so happy that you two shanks finally made it officially official and are married now. Props to you."

He looks over to Thomas and snickers, "And hey bro, don't be mad about not being best man. At least you get to be the first baby Glader's godfather. I have to wait for their second baby Glader."

Thomas smiles as the room erupts into laughter. Claps echo around us as I just smile at the sight. I'm so happy.

At some point, Newt and I separate to talk to the girls and boys on our own. Brenda, Sonya and Harriet are surrounding me as we all talk with big smiles on our faces.

"Clementine, how does it feel to be the first married couple in the Safe Haven," Sonya asks randomly.

"Um, I don't really know," I laugh. "Yeah, it's bizarre but I'm not even looking at it as a first. I'm just so happy that I'm even married now. It feels weird coming out of my mouth but yeah."

"We're so happy for you, girl," Harriet tells me.

"Thank you," I smile, as my eyes look over to Brenda. "Now, the next wedding we're planning is Brenda's." Sonya and Harriet both get super excited at my statement. Just a month ago, Thomas finally confessed to Brenda and the two are a couple. They're more happy than I've ever seen either of them be. Brenda seems to be making Thomas more happy than Teresa did, and I'm not trying to compare anything but Thomas really looks at her with so much love.

"Shut upp," Brenda tells us jokingly as she rolls her eyes. "We've only been together for a month now. We're not getting married any time soon."

"Mmm I don't know," I laugh. "You know what? I'll give it five months max before he proposes."

"We should make a bet," Sonya suggests. "If he doesn't propose in the next five months then you get to do whatever you want to us. But if he does, then we get to plan the whole thing with you. I mean, party decorations and all."

"Yeah, I really like that idea," Harriet adds.

"It would be nice to help you after you helped me with all of this," I tell Brenda.

With a sigh, she finally gives in with a big smile on her face. "Okay, fine. But you three better be prepared if nothing happens in five months."

We all nod in agreement.
