What she didn't expect, however, is the group of people she knew having some sort of meeting inside the place.
For some reason, it was Zack who was leading them. He was explaining something about searching up every single IDs from a scam on the paper he has in his hands. (Y/N) cringes just thinking about how much work that'd probably be.
She blinks as the rest of his sentence fully processes to her. From nearby, she can hear the kid she was with visibly wincing at the plan.
Scam? She remembered that stranger at school also saying something about a scam.
She finally noticed Jiho standing on the side, looking as defeated as he looked when she saw him in the convenience store back then.
Even after listening in to their conversation, she still can't understand what the entire picture was.
The girl looks back down to her computer screen. Scam and looking up IDs on the internet? She has a feeling that something more than that group from last time is mixed up with whatever happened.
She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice that the boy next to her (even until now, she still doesn't actually know his name) stood up and approached the group.
"You dumbasses. I couldn't bear listening to you guys anymore."
And then he proceeded to insult the students a year above him. But then again, (Y/N) supposes it is well-deserved, considering they always seem to end up having to depend on him when it comes to the cyber problems.
"Kou...ji?" she hears someone mutter.
Oh. So that was that kid's name. At least she knows now.
"I just need to find the culprit, right?" asks the first year. "The real plan starts now. Hey you! Stop hiding there and help these monkeys here!"
(Y/N) tensed, having realized that he's probably talking about her. She keeps her eyes on her computer screen just to pretend she doesn't exist. Why is he dragging him there now?!
"Monkeys?!" she heard Zoe squawk indignantly.
Kouji, like the annoying kid he is, threw his head back and drawled loudly at her. "They're your friends, riiiiiight?"
This little...
She spins around on the chair, taking full advantage of its spinning capabilities since she doesnt have one at home. (Y/N) was scowling at him and his Mimecraft chorus fruit of a hair.
"(Y/N) is also here?" she hears Daniel ask in surprise.
She raises an eyebrow at him but didn't grace him with a response.
Said girl's eyes then trailed over to Jiho, who looked worse as soon as he noticed her presence. He averted his gaze to not look at her directly. Good. He's probably ashamed and guilty he didn't listen to what she told him last time.
Kouji hopped down to sit on a chair of his own as he gets to work. Everyone else crowded over to watch, but (Y/N) remains sitting. Surprisingly enough, her chair has quite a good view of his screen.
Whatever he was doing was impressive, even if he's making it sound like something even babies should know about. Except none of them are from the computer dept, so they have an excuse not to know about it.
Long story short, they got a location just by checking the properties from the image taken by this 'Power Gumdam' who apparently used Jiho's bank account to make scams. And Vasco, for some reason, decided it would be faster to search for each one manually.
The other boys, except for Kouji, ran out of the room to head over to where Vasco is while the others stay behind.
Zoe sighs in frustration as they left. "How does Jiho always find himself in these situations?"
(Y/N) thinks back to that time when she warned him to stay away from those guys. Even she wonders about the same thing. What, does he not trust her enough to listen to what she told him then?
She hears the first year scoff again as he retreats back to his spot. "You monkeys just don't look after each other enough."
"Come to think of it," (Y/N) speaks up, looking at him. "Why did you help out for free?"
"Investment, of course."
That didn't clear anything up.
Mira laughs unsurely from where she stood and changed the topic when it was obvious he wasn't going to elaborate anymore. "So...do you two want to go eat something?"
"...It's almost midnight," (Y/N) notes, glancing at her phone.
"Yes, let's go!" Zoe claps her hands together. "Midnight snack, yes?"
She takes one last glance at the kid who was busy doing whatever it was that kids typically do. Or maybe he was tormenting a poor soul somewhere in the vast expanse of cyberspace. Whatever it was he was doing, it wasn't any of their business.
The three of them ended up spending the rest of the night looking for shops that are still open to sell food to them. It seems the two girls she was with was having fun with it, considering they're not usually outside this late at night.
It didn't take long before (Y/N) received an update in her phone regarding what happened with the others who left to find that Power Gumdam.
"Vasco really defeated everyone there by himself," the (h/c) haired girl says, bewildered as she reads the text from her brother. "They got there and it was already over."
"Vasco is very dependable like that," nods Mira. "When I first heard about him, I really thought he was another thug, you know?"
"Right! I was the same!" Zoe agrees. "The architecture dept was scary during the first few weeks of our freshman year! I didn't think he'd actually be quite the softie."
A softie...that's quite accurate and funny, especially since Vasco can look really tough.
"What about you, (Y/N)? What do you think of him?"
Hearing her name being called out for an opinion, (Y/N) lowered the kebab she was eating with a thoughtful look. What she thinks about Vasco, huh? Well...
"Of Vasco?" she muses. He's nice, of course. He still remembers how happy he got whenever she gives him a carton of milk without warning, or when he got his entire dept to give her get-well-soon gifts and letters when she got stabbed.
She didn't even notice the small smile creeping up her face as she thinks of those times.
"He's cute."
