Chapter 48 - Hikao and Tsubu: A Hope for Change

"Naga ish justh scared I won't pass." Yurei managed to talk through it.

Tasushi didn't know the reason but when thinking of one, he got worried. "It's not because of Hikao, right?"

Yoyume put up her fist and a menacing look. "You better hope it's not because of Hikao."

"It's only half true...only because I like working together with Tsurei..." Tanchu muttered and managed to calm her down. "But other than that, Hikao has nothing to do with it."

"Might as well hurry it up then. I heard Chenso is scary when she's angry and I can't imagine how it'll be if you're late."

"Good luck!" Kanetsu gave two thumbs ups to the girls. "I bet you guys will be fine."

"We will!" Iki grabbed Yurei's hand and led her out. "Let's go now!"

Tanchu watched them run and her braids lowered. 'They'll be just fine...right?'

She stayed still but then her braids began shaking.

'Who am I kidding?! Iki better not make her fail!'

Tsubu let herself be pulled by Iki as she got led to where their test would be.

She shared the nervousness of Nagakami, wondering how her test would go. Her body was slightly shaking and she wanted to hide it but just couldn't. That's when she finally looked down at her hand.

"Uhm..." Tsubu found the words she wanted to say but wanted to be careful. "Iki...can you let go of my hand...?"

"Oh, sorry!" Iki quickly apologized and did so. "I'm just really excited, you know?"

"Excited?"

"I already have a plan for us! I've been thinking of it through all the other exams."

'During all the exams?!' She wanted to exclaim but even she got a little bit of excitement herself. "So...what's the plan then?"

"Oh, uh..."

"You have a plan...right?"

"I do, but..." She slightly glanced behind her to try looking at her. "It's nothing. All you have to do is turn into your wisp form and run."

"..."

"Just do that and I'll handle the rest."

"..."

She noticed something was off and turned her head fully. "What's wrong? Are you not feeling good already?"

"N-No!" Her answer came hurriedly and when she knew it sounded like that, she fixed her tone. "I'm fine...your plan sounds good."

Tsubu did have something to say but couldn't bring herself to do so. She just brought up her focus to the gate they were about to pass. Seeing the fake city gave her butterflies in her stomach as the two walked through, though Tsubu more or less dragged her feet.

"Team Tanchu and Yurei Practical Exam! Ready, go!" The announcement only made her more sick to her stomach.

"Follow me." Iki began speeding off ahead, forcing the girl to jog to catch up. "Let's just hide real quick...I want to see what Ms. Sei will do."

She kept to her word, the two going inside an alleyway. Tsubu just followed her lead, not having much of a voice to go against what she's saying. Hiding in the alleyway, she watched as Iki peeked out her head.
