|68| One Last Goodbye

Start from the beginning

"You always do this." Kayano accused, voice full of confidence as he faced the man. "Always hurting others from your safe spot away from it all!"

"Is that what you think?" He asked rather ominously.

He then reached into his pocket and pulled out a syringe containing a strange purpley-blue liquid which he injected in his neck. You felt Karma grabbing your wrist and protectively pulling you behind him, as if he were already prepared for what was going to happen. You gulped.

"I'm not prepared to die? Is that what you think?"

"Hey that's-" Sugaya's breathing hitched.

"It can't be-" Hayami mumbled.

"I don't give a damn about my life anymore." Yanagisawa proclaimed, voice devoid of any emotion or will to live. "Not if I can kill you," he looked at Koro-sensei, "you who stole everything from me."

In one swift movement, he took off his white cloak, revealing the effects of the mysterious liquid. His whole body was much more muscled and toned, covered in protruding veins that ran up to his face.

"I can become superhuman while retaining my human faculties." In the blink of an eye, he was right behind Koro-sensei. "Die a pathetic death, guinea pig so your beloved students will be scarred for life." His left eye emitted a purple flash.

"What the-!?" Koro-sensei tried to shield himself from the Reaper and Yanagisawa's combined attack. But their power was much stronger and had your teacher hurling backwards until he collided against the ground.

It was as if the air had left your lungs, as if you were incapable of taking in any air. You could barely breathe. The only thing you could do was watch your beloved teacher be thrown around. This fight-... Would he make it?

"Class," Koro-sensei body trembled in exertion, "there's something I forgot to mention in my earlier lesson. Even an assassin who's cleverly avoided all head-to-head battles is sure to have a number of times in his life when he or she must fight with every last ounce of strength." He slowly stood up, making your heart pump in anticipation. "In my case, that would be now!"

The Reaper roared and charged once more against your teacher, whose face was now full of conviction. The crash lifted the dirt and soil from the ground which ripped at your skin and stung your eyes. All of a sudden, you felt a presence in front of you that shielded you from the flying pieces of debris. That strawberry scent reached you, making your heart skip a beat. Just like that day the principal challenged Koro-sensei, Karma was protecting you from danger.

The thought alone was enough to have tears welling up in your eyes as you desperately clung onto him. Karma was your safe haven and right now, you needed him more than ever.

After everything that had happened with your parents, after what was happening with Koro-sensei, having someone to protect you and look out for you with such determination had your heart swelling, and gave you hope. Despite everything that you had endured this year, you managed to overcome it and rise above it. And if you could do it, so could your teacher. Koro-sensei was going to make it.

The wind was still hurling, its power nearly sweeping you off your feet had it not been for Karma. But thankfully it wasn't as strong as before and didn't pick up so much dirt.

You watched as Koro-sensei continued fighting the Reaper, a sonic boom following after every attack. It was difficult picking up on their movements, their speed so fast it was nearly invisible to the eye. What you could tell however, was that Koro-sensei was overwhelmingly losing ground.

One particular powerful attack stomped him to the ground. And just like last time, the impact was so strong it created a crater around him.

"Koro-sensei!" Nagisa called, his voice seeming to give your teacher the strength to try and stand up.
