|68| One Last Goodbye

The Reaper, unfortunately, had other plans and was suddenly right by his side, his tentacles pushing against the octopus and stopping him from getting up. Someway or another, Koro-sensei was able to escape the Reaper's grip and flew away, retreating to the other side of the school grounds.

"Feeling hopeless yet, guinea pig?" Yanagisawa smirked and struck your teacher. "Two people, times tentacles, times genius, times the power of hate. He's far surpassed the likes of you!" And just as he said that, the Reaper grabbed Koro-sensei from one of his tentacles and violently threw him to the ground. He didn't stop there and kept up with his assault, his black tentacles charging with no intention of stopping.

As your teacher was beaten up to almost death, the only thing your class could do was observe. Observe from a distance with nothing to do. Because this fight was not even in your same dimension.

The battle was too mismatched.

All your hard work, all your assassination plans over the past year now seemed in vain. It was all meaningless because, right now, there was nothing you guys could do.

You pressed your lips together, your eyes glancing away from the fight and looking at Karma. The two of you shared a look, a look filled with so many complicated and mixed emotions. Defeat, hope, fear, uncertainty...

Nagisa must've felt the same way and fell to his knees, gun already on the ground as the only thing he could do was stare blankly up ahead. If it was going to end like this, then what had even been the reason for your assassination classroom?

"Is he... starting to dodge!?" You suddenly heard Takebayashi say, his statement making your head jolt upwards in anticipation. Your breathing hitched. He was right! Koro-sensei was slowly starting to stop the Reaper's advances!

"Hmph... Then how about this?" Yanagisawa wasn't fazed as he jumped into action and lunged at your teacher who managed to stop his attack.

"Wow!" Fuwa marveled at the strength Koro-sensei was showing.

"Evading attacks with the minimum amount of strength!" Ritsu awed too. "Using soil to block the light, he's closing in and killing their power. Seeing him improvise a way to close the power gap- that's our Koro-sensei through and through."

With one final effort, your octopus teacher was able to stop Yanagisawa and the Reaper's combined attacks and pushed them backwards.

"Yanagisawa, leave us." He protectively stood in front of all of you. "This is a place for students to learn and grow, you are not entitled to be here."

"Still fancy yourself a teacher, eh guinea pig? Then let's put you to a test." His voice was low and menacing. "Don't you see why we chose this moment to make our move?" He snapped his fingers. On cue, the Reaper's tentacles began glowing red, as if they were powering up. "You'll protect them right? Isn't that what a teacher does?" He grinned creepily.

The next thing you knew, a red flash was aimed towards you. It came so suddenly, there was no time to shout, no time to yell. Instead, you held onto Karma's hand tighter, your eyes wider than they had ever been as they locked on those mercury eyes that had brought you so much peace, because if you were going to die today, you wanted him to be the last thing you saw.

With one last breath, you prepared for impact.

"Koro-sensei!" Someone yelled. And just as the beam was about to strike, you were suddenly shielded by a blinding yellow light.

"You can escape these hard blows on your own, yet you take them head-on to protect your students? All right, 2.0, next." Time and time again, the Reaper attacked and your teacher protected. All whilst Yanagisawa laughed.
