|68| One Last Goodbye

It came to a point where Koro-sensei reached his limit and fell to his knees, exhausted and vomiting.

"Put the target with his students and this was bound to happen. Deciding to show up here tonight was a bad move." He faced your class.

"Stop Yanagisawa!" A voice you would have never expected here yelled. Karasuma-sensei! "Don't drag those students in any deeper!" He aimed his gun at him as Bitch-sensei supported him from behind. But Yanagisawa was vicious and more powerful than ever. And with one swift punch, he knocked your PE teacher to the ground.

"Karasuma!" Your English teacher ran to his aid.

"Shut up and watch government lapdogs. You don't stand a chance against me now."

You lowered your head. As much as you hated him... he was right. This fight was out of your hands. They were in a league of their own and you-... you were nothing compared to them.

"What's it like seeing your despairing students being a hindrance to their dear, dear teacher?" Yanagisawa mocked. "Now do you see it? Your greatest weak point?"

You lowered your head. Your class... You were Koro-sensei's weakness...

"That's preposterous!" He screamed as he struggled against the grip of the Reaper's tentacles. "This isn't a question of right answer or wrong! They risked life and limb to try to save me and overcame obstacles to meet me here. That process, those hearts, they're the greatest gift a teacher could receive! They're not a weak point and they're not a hindrance! They're my students and I'm proud of each and every one of them!"

A lump formed in your throat and your eyes began to sting at his kind and heartfelt words. To your parents you were nothing but a means to an end. A pawn in their competition. But Koro-sensei... Koro-sensei valued each and every one of you. He appreciated you for who you were and took his time to get to know you and help you in any way possible. He was the mentor you had been looking for and now... you might not ever see him again.

"What's more, protecting one's students is a teacher's natural duty!"

"Yes, yes," Yanagisawa rolled his eyes, "but soon, your strength will run out and the students you've been trying to protect-" he smiled darkly – "I'll slaughter them."

A chill went down your spine as you unconsciously got closer to Karma, hoping his presence would be enough to calm you down and reassure you that everything would be alright. that Koro-sensei would make it out safely.

"This year you gained by destroying our lives and I'll make it like it was all for nothing. Then, our revenge will finally be complete!" He cackled. "Now let's continue. Better protect those sweet students of yours-"

A gunshot was heard. Before you knew it, the Reaper's tentacle exploded, releasing Koro-sensei in the process.

"You fool!" Karma's body tensed.

"But how-!?" Nagisa exclaimed.

"Run Koro-sensei!" Kayano yelled, gun in hand. "I'll buy you time, just hide somewhere and recover!"

"Kayano!?"

The Reaper didn't waste any time as he lunged at Kayano who miraculously managed to dodge his attack.

"Retained that kinetic vision, I see." Yanagisawa smirked.

"Stop, Kayano!"

"I had regretted it all this time that it was my fault the class learned the truth. That I snatched away the fun times we'd had together. So at least let me protect you. As your student!"

"You were right." Koro-sensei tried to stand up. "Thanks to your actions, the class got to learn what was truly impor-" He was violently thrown backwards by one of the Reaper's tentacles.
