I couldn't pinpoint my moves after that because it felt like I was having an out of body experience
I don't know when it happened but the screams that erupted from our side at the end of the game made me know we just won.
Marcus and I shared a hug out of excitement that couldn't be contained.
We've talked about this since we were teenagers.
Daniel jumped on my back and we tumbled to the ground in excitement.
"Fuck yeah we did it!" Scott shouted pulling me up from the ground and pulling me into a hug.
I hugged my teammates and congratulated them before shaking hands with the captain and members of the opposing team.
I ran over to Marissa who was standing humbly on the sidelines clapping and screaming basking in our win.
I lifted her from the ground and spun her around in my arms before putting her down.
"I bet you didn't have a clue what was going," I teased.
"You know me so well. I was lost the whole time until I realized you guys won," she admitted.
I couldn't help the smile that took over my face before I gave her a smoldering kiss.
When we finally pulled away and I see her face, she's smiling but her smile doesn't reach her eyes.
I looked to the stands where she kept looking to see my family approaching us.
Marissa gulped nervously before turning her attention back to me.
"Your family..." she started but I put my index finger on her lips silencing her.
"Shh. I'll take care of it."
My mother pulled me into her arms only hugging my torso due to how tall I was.
"I'm so immensely proud of you."
She pulled back to look at me still awestruck.
"Alright mom he's had enough," Roman said.
After mom pulled away, Roman, Ronnie and Jacob all pulled me in for an individual hug.
I had to peel Ronnie's arms off me after she went in for a second hug.
My mother was hugging with Marissa and rocking her side to side expressing how happy she was that we were together.
"You're a lucky man," Ronnie said and she shared a smile with Marissa.
Jacob gave Marissa a cheek kiss and a side hug. She was closest to him in my family.
I looked up just in time to catch my father coming over to us.
He had a smug smile on his face.
Why the fuck is he here?
"What the hell is Dad doing here?"
"Unfortunately he invited himself. He's trying to keep up appearances," my mother explained.
I wrapped my arm around Marissa's waist pulling her closer to me when I saw him approach us.
"Congratulations on your win son." He was the first to speak.
"I thought I told coach you were banned from ever coming to my games," I answered.
"I made you son. You're a star because of me. Your coach understands that and that's why he let me in."
I could tell he threatened those in charge or bribed his way in.
"In this moment, I can't bring myself to give a fuck."
"You need to leave now!" My mother demanded.
With mom on his ass, he started directing his anger towards me.
"You're mad because I told your little play thing to stay away from you? Do you know how much I sacrifice on a yearly basis so you can fulfill your dreams?" He shouted and persons who were passing by were looking.
"Well it's a good thing you cut me off then isn't it?"
He snarled, "You little ungrateful..." he made at me to grab me but my brothers stopped him before he could.
I could feel Marissa's pulse in her wrist thumping hard.
She was frightened.
"You know what. I'm leaving mom. I'll see you guys later."
I took Marissa's hand and led her away from the scene.
