The air has started to feel slightly colder, Luz said she didn't notice it... maybe the Demon Realm is hotter. I was walking and listening to music, I didn't use to do this. When I saw how often Y/n took little "Music Walks" as she called them, I started to take some myself. Luz introduced me to some human music bands and there were some really good ones!

I walked along the old road humming to the song as I did so. I passed Y/n's treehouse and smiled. She said if I ever needed a place to go that her treehouse was open to me. I climbed up the ladder, recently on my walks I check in on the place to make sure there are no cobwebs or anything. 

I got into the tree house and looked around. I stood out on her balcony as the music flowed peacefully into my ears. I sighed and closed my eyes enjoying the moment. 

After a little while of hanging out in her tree house, I decided it was time to head back home. I was about to leave when I saw Y/n climb up the ladder and into the treehouse. I removed my headphones and smiled "Hey! Are you ok? You don't come here unless you-" 

Before I could finish she jumped forward and hugged me. I immediately hugged her back and felt my shirt getting wet. "Hey... it's ok..." I ran my hands through her hair and held her.

We stayed like that for about 5 minutes until Y/n calmed down. We sat on her bean bag together and she started explaining what was going on.

sent 2 hours before the present time

I went for a nice walk through the neighborhood and back. When I got back home My mom was sitting at the Kitchen table. "Oh hey, mom! I didn't know you were home!" 

She turned and smiled at me,  "Oh, hello Y/n. How have you been?" She asked softly and I sat next to her. I told her about River Rapids and all of that and she smiled. "It's so good to hear you are friends with Luz and her friends..." I nodded and smiled.

We sat in silence for a moment before I asked "Do you have work tonight?" I asked, my voice barely reaching above a whisper. "I'm on standby, they can call me at any time and I have to rush to the hospital.." she sighed.

I looked at the floor. Mom has been working a lot more recently, I've seen some of the bills and I can tell utilities are going up. Mom stood up and smiled "But we can't let that stop our fun! Come on, I think I have some of your favorite ice creams in the freezer!" She walked to the freezer and started looking around.

She pulled out my favorite ice cream and I was bouncing from excitement. We sat down at the TV and started watching a movie.

About 1 hour and a half into the movie, we had finished the ice cream. Mom's phone rang and she picked it up. "Hello? Sigh, I understand I'll be there as soon as possible." She got up from the couch and sighed again.

"They need me back at the hospital... on so sorry sweat pea...* she frowned and I hugged her "It's ok! Go, be a hero, and save someone's life!" I smiled and did a Superman pose.

She chuckled and grabbed her car keys. "Be safe, and if anything happens and I don't pick up the phone-" I cut her off "Call Ms. Noceda I know, I know" She chuckled and walked out the garage door then got in her car and drove away.

I grabbed my headphones and my phone. I walled out of the house and slipped my headphones on. I started walking towards an older part of town.

I arrived at an old shop, I took off my headphones and walked in. I took a deep breath, same smell as always, old and dusty. "Ah! Y/n!" A little old lady approached me and hugged me. "Hey, memaw!" Hugged her back. She wasn't actually my grandma, but she practically raised my dad. He used to take me here to her shop all the time, whenever I miss him I come to this shop.

"What are you doing here?" She smiled at me, she had the sweetest little old lady smile and you could tell she meant every word she said, especially when she compliments you. "Just bored. Mom got called into work again and I thought I'd come to check up on you!" I smiled.

She frowned "I'm sorry you're mom got called into work again.." she knew how much not having my mom around took a toll on me. I would spend hours hanging out in her shop when Mom was at work.

I smiled "Oh it's alright! How have you and Gizmo been?" I looked around for the tabby cat I knew well. Memaw smiled "Oh he is probably playing with Mr. Midnight again" I loved both of Memaw's cats but Gizmo was also my favorite.

After a while of sitting and chatting with Memaw, I noticed no one had come into the shop. "Awfully slow today... what's going on?" I asked and Memaw lost her charming smile. "Business isn't the same as it used to be... if it keeps going as it has recently... well... we might have to close up shop..." Memaw said, I almost spat out my water.

"What?! You can't sell the shop!" I protested. Memaw frowned "I'm afraid if I don't see more customers... I might have to..."

I could feel the tears streaming down my face. "No! Y- you can't! This is one of the only things I have left of Dad! Please memaw!" I pleaded. She rubbed my shoulder "Please don't cry wee one... things happen, things- whether we want them to or not -change..." I was full-blown crying now.

I ran out of the shop and down the street. As I ran the wind dried my eyes slightly but the sadness was still there. I ran to my treehouse and climbed up the ladder. I was hoping in my head Hunter would be there though I knew it was impossible. I needed him right now.

I climbed up the ladder and once I got into the tree house, I saw him and I knew this wasn't a coincidence.

Y/n told me all about her Memaw's shop and her dad. I was surprised because she never talks about her dad to the extent she did today. She even went into detail about some of the stories he lived through while in that same shop.

I listened to her patiently until she was done and tears streamed down her face. I hugged her. "I'm so sorry Y/n..." I whispered into her shoulder as I hugged her.

Stayed like that in her tree house until the sunset, then we started to go back to my- er- Luz's house. I saw her texting her mom she was going to spend the night at Luz's house and I smiled.

We got there and Y/n explained what was going on to Luz "What?! Memaw is closing up shop?!" Luz said clearly shocked. I could tell Y/n was fighting back tears so I rubbed her back.

Luz thought for a moment then looked like she got an idea. "Uhm... I'm gonna go to bed! See you guys in the morning!" She dashed up to her room. 'Wonder what that was about' I thought. "Hunter, can I sleep in your room tonight?" I saw her look at the floor. I smiled "Of course you can. In what world would I say no to my awesome girlfriend."

I saw her smile. We went down into the basement and Gus was working on his scale model of Hexside using popsicle sticks. "Hi, Gus..." Y/n said weakly and Gus jumped "o- oh! Y/n! You're here! Uhm... welcome!" I swear I saw some blush on his cheeks. 

I raised an eyebrow at him as Y/n got into my sleeping bag.  He shrugged.  Y/n quickly fell asleep but I stayed up helping Gus. "No, the scale drawing of principal bump should be in the principles office not standing with the rest of the teachers!" I whisper yelled to not wake up Y/n "But you can't even see him!" Gus responded quietly.

Suddenly Y/n started tossing and turning in her sleep. She started mumbling and she looked uncomfortable. Gus cast a spell,  which made her stop and made the bad dream go away. "Woah that was pretty cool Gus!" I smiled, and he smirked proudly. "one of the perks of knowing illusion magic" We both chuckled and then went back to working on the popsicle stick Hexside.

I ran through the city, I was being chased by something. Then, like magic, the city turned into a calm field with butterflies. I calmed down and sat in the field and stared at the clouds.

A/n: Hey guys!! this one wasn't based on a photo in Willow's scrapbook (obviously) but I wanted to do a little more focus on Y/n's past and not on Gus's cru- strange likeness to her. (btw I'm gonna start putting sushi_ghost down there because that's my username)
