THE EVENTS THAT HAPPENED this morning felt like it was all just a dream. After finishing off at the shower, Aries drove me to school, and then we parted ways without saying a single word. And I could tell that he didn't say anything because he was feeling shy again, like some high schooler who got kissed on his first date.
"You only have five days before your exams. If you have anything to ask, my consultation hours are 5 to 6 PM. You can find me at my office. See you all next week," Ms. Ortega says as she grabs her things and heads out of the classroom.
Everyone stands from their seats and starts leaving to grab lunch, while others head straight to the library to continue studying for the midterms next week.
"It almost felt like yesterday when we were making banners for the university pageant, and now here we are again, burying ourselves with books and notebooks that have more doodles than actual notes," Vicki complains as she shoves her things inside her bag.
"Hey, Mr. LU, are you heading to the library, or are you coming with us to the cafeteria?" Justin then asks while I'm putting my things inside my bag as well. Right after, I wear my backpack and turn to Justin, who's busy fixing his hair while staring at his reflection in the window.
"I'll come with you guys. I wasn't able to eat breakfast, so I'm starving to death," I answer.
"You guys didn't eat anything when you left?" Art suddenly asks next, immediately making Vicki and Justin turn to look at him with furrowed brows. Art's probably referring to Aries and me since Aries told me last night that he informed his brothers that he was staying over at my house.
"You guys?" Vicki then asks back, finally making Art realize what he just asked.
The two of us look at each other, mentally sending signals so we wouldn't end up saying something that would put Aries on the spot.
"Last night, when you guys left, I told him about my childhood friend named Gelo, who usually stays at home with me since my mom's in the hospital," I try to casually explain like it wasn't a big deal, and thankfully Art acted cool about it too, not like other people who would end up overacting during situations like this, and then act surprised on why they got caught.
It's your terrible acting, man. What did you expect?
"Is that so," Justin says as he finally walks towards us. "You haven't mentioned that friend of yours before, but is he the guy you're usually with in your social media profile?"
"Yeah, that's the one," I answer with a relieved sigh, glad they didn't find it suspicious. "He's been my friend before I could even walk properly. He's like a brother to me."
"He sounds nice. You should introduce him to us sometimes," Vicki then suggests, making me scratch my head to avoid answering the question because I know Gelo enough to predict that he's gonna end up saying stupid shit. Of course, I trust my friends, but Gelo might accidentally mention Aries, and I don't want any sort of trouble or misunderstanding.
