Sarah's Pov
Ryan was burning with fever but he keeps on denying the fact.
Stubborn
I took some ice cubes from the freezer, dipped a cloth in the cold water and pasted it on his forehead.
“Why do you don't understand, sweetheart. I am okay. This happens frequently. Don't make a fuss about it.” He said, rolling his eyes.
“Shut up. And let me do what I am doing.”
…….
It's my first day without Ryan in college. I checked his temperature this morning, it's still 103⁰F even after giving him the meds. I forced him to stay at home. Even I would have taken a leave if this was not the last day to submit the assignment, both of us will get a zero.
This was the first time Ryan worked on an assignment.
I was in the corridor when a blonde haired boy was looking at me confused. He paused for a second as if thinking something maybe to approach me or not...before coming to me.
“Excuse me… Can you please help me to reach room no 121. This is my first day in this college.” he said, nervousness still evident.
“Ohh. I am from the same class. Come with me.” He nodded with a relaxed smile on his face.
“It's good to know we are in the same class. Didn't you make any friends? Classes started a month ago, right?”
“I have a friend but he is having a fever, so he's absent today.”
After some conversation I came to know his name is Jacob, but he insisted I call him Jake. His father just transferred here. That's why he is a late admission. One more rich kid in my life. Why are middle classed people so hard to find here? At least I would relate to them a bit.
Today Ryan is absent so he sat beside me. I agreed because I could understand his feelings, most of the students here carried a ton of attitude in them. As a late admission Jake must have some problems to cope up with us and I could understand.
The class seemed boring without Ryan and his whining of attending classes. A smile came to my face, when I thought of him. He was a special friend of mine. He made me feel important and safe. I felt safe around him. I wish our friendship never ends even after our graduation.
“......then you can go.” A voice interrupted me. Jake was telling me something.
“What… Can you repeat? I was thinking about something else.” presicely about someone else.
“I was asking you for your notes. Let me click some pictures. So I can copy them and then you can go. Sorry for delaying you.”
“No.. no it's completely fine.”
We went to the canteen, Jake offered me a hamburger. I refused so much but he wanted to treat me for our new friendship. We exchanged our contact numbers and called it a day.
I bought some medicines for Ryan and also bought his favourite cappuccino on the way.
I opened the door of our apartment and he was sitting on the sofa with folded hands staring at me in anger.
“What?!” I asked while changing my shoes to slippers.
“What took you so long? When you are with me, you drag me home without letting me have fun. You are ONE HOUR LATE, Sweetheart.”
“I made a friend today.” I said proudly, keeping the meds on the table and handing him the coffee.
“So you were chilling with her then?” He asked with a playful smirk on his face, drinking the coffee.
“Ya, friend is a guy not a girl, so HE not HER.”
“You are such a double faced girl, Sarah. You never talk to boys when I am with you. One day I am gone and you caught a new guy?”
“Stop being dramatic. He is a new admission so I helped him. That's all, but he seemed a nice guy.” I said sterilising the thermometer with warm water.
His face was as red as a tomato. I think his fever is increasing, he never talk about his illness.
But was the redness of face just because of fever?
………
“Your fever is still there. You are not going to college tomorrow also, Ryan. Don't argue with me.” I uttered sternly.
“Okay, then you will also not go. Let's chill at home then.” He said excitedly.
“Okay, Let's take a leave tomorrow.” I agreed and he started dancing.
Classes without him seemed boring anyway.
I can't believe he is the cold guy in college everyone is afraid of.“Come.. let's eat something.”
“I had a hamburger. Jake gave me.” I said folding my clothes.
“Now who is JAKE?” He asked with a possessive tone. He is such a possessive friend.
“My new friend, as I told you.”
I loved teasing him. His possessive face was so cute.
“So his name is Jake??” He asked with a boring expression.
“No. Actually his name is Jacob, but he asked me to call him Jake.”
“You gave him a nickname, Sweetheart? It's been a month of us being together, you still call me Ryan.”
“I didn't give him a nickname, he asked me to call him that. What happened to you? Why are you being so different?”
“He asked you to and you are calling him that? Okay call me sweetheart too then.”
“No.. I even refused you to call me that. That's so cringe honestly Ryan.”
“I am not talking to you, Sarah.” He said putting force on the last word. Then he rushed out of my room and sat in the hall playing some heartbroken songs.
After folding my clothes, I sat beside him on the sofa.
“Are you expecting me to apologise to you or sugar coat you?”
“Hmmm.” He hummed without looking at me.
I sat closer to him, taking his hand in mine resting my head on his shoulder.
“You are my best friend, Ryan. You are important to me, no one can ever replace you. You have a special place in my heart.”
He placed his hand on my head and lightly kissed my forehead. A foreign feeling hit me with the close contact of his lips on head. I can't explain that feeling to myself.
“I know Sweetheart. You consider me important as much as I consider you.” He murmured something but I could not hear that.
So guys.. a new chapter. I don't know why but I love to write Ryan's pov more than Sarah's. Obviously I want to romanticise the guy being a girl ; )
So I hope you like the chapter, and if you like it, please vote and comment. I wish there was an option to see who voted for me so I can personally thank them.
But it's okay. If you have any recommendations to change something in the story or if you find any mistakes, feel free to reach out to me.
