Failing to Meet a Simple Deadline

"I never enjoyed it, you know", Five mumbled as his grip onto the car's steering wheel tightened.
They were now going back to the alley where the Hargreeves were supposed to meet.
"What was that?", Y/n asked not hearing him properly. "I was just saying... All those people before... and now... I never um... l-liked or e-enjoyed what I did. I was just following orders. You know that right? I mean we never got to talk about this since 1964 happened right afterwards", Five said earning a soft sigh from Y/n.
"Five... I said you don't need to talk about this", Y/n said.
"I know... But I need to get it off my chest, Y/n. I feel like... I just feel so... I don't even know", he sighed in frustration.
"Hey... How about we figure this all out once we are home?", she suggested.
"I... I just feel like you hate me, you know", Five said.
"Just know... That I admire you for being so concerned about your family, Five. Not everyone can do what you do. But this is not some simple mathematics where you even it out with the lives you save or something... We can't defend certain things so let's not get into that... But just know that I don't hate you. Everything will be okay. We will be fine. I promise", Y/n said.
"Why... Why are you so nice to me?", he asked.
"Now that question always makes me question your sanity... and intelligence. So kind sir... Just drive back quickly so we can go home and once we are done with that... We will take a long shower with all those flower scents. Go have a nice cafe date... and discuss all these things over a cup of your favorite black coffee", Y/n said making him smile a bit.
"I don't know about the rest of the things... But the "black coffee" part really got to me", Five said.
