Marissa and I had already sorted out what we needed to for graduation.

We head to my room and talk for a little bit about our plans and our families.

"I'm sorry your dad's an asshole baby. There are worse fathers out there, take mine for example."

She lifted her head off my chest and looked up at me frowning.

"That's not funny Jeremy. Don't try to make me feel better at your expense."

"What can I do to make you feel better then?"

I rubbed her back tenderly and kissed her forehead as I awaited an answer.

"I thought brunch would make me feel better but my dad's working my nerves. He's upset because of matters beyond my control. What should I do?"

"You know my only advice is for you to trust your gut. Whatever you wanna do, you do that."

She smiled appreciatively and stroked my cheek in adoration before pulling away.

"I'm gonna go get us some drinks," she said.

"No, I'll do it," I interjected.

I sauntered off to the kitchen where I poured two cokes into two separate glasses with ice before heading back to my room.

I handed her the drink and sat beside her sipping mine.

"How you feeling?" I asked.

She was spaced out just thinking.

"Back to reality please," I snapped my fingers and she moved out of her daze.

"Sorry, just thinking about after graduation."

"We were friends before everything. I know you and I know when you're lying," I admitted.

It was obvious I caught her by surprise by the look on her face.

She looked away dismissing my concerns.

We sat in silence as I didn't push any further not wanting to start a fight.

She had other plans unfortunately.

She stretched an envelope out to me and I took it cautiously.

It was the letter that I got from the Cardinals about their interest in signing me.

"Where did you get this?" I asked.

She looked over at my nightstand as her response.

I must've left it there by accident. That's not even who I want to play for.

I bet she thinks I'm moving there without telling her.

"You were just going to get up and move to Arizona?"

Just as I said. That's exactly what she was thinking.

"When would you have let me known you were considering moving there?"
