Bre hadn't been able to sleep or concentrate since she and Conrad broke up. She had slept on the floor of her dorm room since he left her. Finn sleeping in her bed of course.

But there was one thing that had been hanging over her since the ball. Was that she wanted to see Susannah? Laurel had mentioned her maybe coming up to see her one weekend, so when Bre wouldn't board a flight Laurel booked one for her sending her the details of it but the issue was it was an hour after they spoke on the phone.

"I don't want to go" Bre said throwing clothes into her small carry-on. Finn, Keegan and Hattie sat listening to her ramble on and moan about it.

"Bre you've got to go, look I know you've been through enough this month but you always talk about Susannah. You'll feel better for seeing her" Keegan said, she was always the voice of reason and helped Bre make actual decisions.

"We'll all wave you off," Finn said pitching in.

And that's what they did, they piled in one of their cars and drove over to the airport. Bre was anxious the whole time and it got worse when she got to the airport.

"We will be here when you get off the plane on Sunday" Hattie said hugging her. Bre had put her stomach on like she knew something was going to go wrong.

"We'll meet you back at the car," Keegan said to Finn before she and Hattie headed back to their car.

"I can't go...what if she passes before I get there? " Bre said feeling overwhelmed with anxiety.

"Bre she's in a stable condition otherwise Laurel wouldn't have pushed for you to come. Look when you get through security get some water and go to your gate. Then listen to your playlist. You'll be fine. She'll be fine too." Finn said pulling her into a hug. He felt guilty that he'd lied and wanted more than anything for her to figure things out with Conrad without the truth coming out.

The truth is Bre did get on that plane but by the time she landed she wasn't getting phone calls welcoming her to Boston she was getting news of Susannah's passing. And a wave of guilt hit her when Laurel told her she should've visited sooner.

"Wake up!" Laurel said shouting at Bre to wake up. She hadn't even opened her eyes before she knew who it was. And she felt the same pain she did the day Susannah died.

"Wake Up Breanna!" She shouted once more, which made Bre sit up holding her head.

"You call me, Drunk! Saying you need me. Then I get here and you're passed out and you've destroyed the beach house. How dare you!" Laurel shouted not even taking a breath. Bre stood up shocked at what was happening.

"I'm sorry" Bre said holding back her tears.

"Don't apologise, I told you to leave the boys alone! And you couldn't do that. And now you've ruined everything. I am so done with you. " Laurel shouted, Belly was standing by the door crying.

"I'm sorry I was being here for Jeremiah and Conrad. I was helping. I was trying to do this for Susannah..." Bre admitted wiping a tear that fell down her face.

"Don't use her as an excuse. Bre you can't help with anything. You always make it worse" Laurel replied. Bre's heart was slowly breaking. She'd tried to help but it wasn't enough.

"You can't stand me period! You have hated me since the funeral. No... since the day she died. You have been so angry with me..." Bre cried as she was talking.

"What do you want me to say? You embarrassed me, and you made that day all about you. When it was supposed to be about Susannah" Laurel shouted, the vein on her forehead becoming more visible as she got angry.

"Yes! Yes! I know you hate me for it okay...but you will never hate me for it as much as I hate myself!" Bre shouted slumping her shoulders. In her head, she wanted to talk everything through.

"Come on, we are not doing this here," Laurel said turning and throwing stuff into one of Bre's bags.

"I was helping them and it was my mistake thinking you could help. Believe it or not. I was keeping my promise to Susannah. You can't come here acting all high when you didn't keep yours" Bre shouted not even thinking. But before she could continue Laurel's hand struck her across the face. It was the first time Laurel had ever laid a finger on her children. It wasn't the slap that hurt Bre the most it was who it came from. She looked up at the women who stood before her in disbelief. Bre's hand automatically went to her face as it was throbbing from the slap.

"MOM!" Belly shouted coming into the room. It wasn't just Bre who saw a different side to Laurel that day all the kids did.

Then she did the only thing she wanted to do in that situation walk away. She pushed past Belly and saw everyone's empathetic looks when she walked past but didn't care.

She wound up where her heart had broken too many times before. The beach.

This was the only place she felt safe to cry.
